Really nice plane
Overall I liked the fit and finish of the plane. It is extremely well built and cuts like butter. I liked the feature of adjusting the throat according to the depth of the cutting edge. The deeper the cut the wider the throat. The plane fits in my hand well and I know it will be in my shop for many years to come.

Well worth
For 62$ and free shipping this is an excellent deal. I have only received it today and although it worked well right out of the box I did spend some time flattening the base and fine sharpening the blade, it cuts thin and even slices s from soft and hard wood (oak) without too much effort, it feels to me a little heavy in the hand (860 grams). The parts and finish are a bit on the rough side and proportionally large. the maker I believe is Soba - made in India. I do own another shoulder plane by this company which I also like using. To conclude if you do not want invest in a high end tool but need a fine tool to work with at a very friendly price - do not hesitate.

Great overall value.
This is actually a pretty nice tool. It comes covered in thick layer of grease, needed a bit more lapping than a Lie Nielsen, and the brass cap begged for a little polishing, but once it was all tuned up, it worked great. The blade seems to be quality steel and you can sort of see where the tempered cutting steel has been laminated to the rest of the softer steel blade body. Once I honed it and set the mouth as narrow as possible, I took clean little shavings off end grain with zero tear out. Very satisfying.I bought an inexpensive leather holster for it to keep it safe in my tool bag. Its a great value and I dont worry about taking it onsite like I would if it were a top of the line plane like a Lie Nielsen.

I really like this plane, it works great. metal needs prep before it will work like it's supposed to.
The steel on the bottom of the block plane, and the plane blade itself is poorly cast and milled. It took a fair amount of surface prep (coarse sharpening) to get it to my desired level of sharpness.Other than that, it holds an edge great, and I plane end grain frequently.

Well worth the money.
This plane replaces a Stanley I recently bought. The Stanley was not too expensive, but even at the low price it was overpriced. Nothing was flat, true or suggested any quality control was observed. The Woodstock on the other hand was more expensive, but worth it. Everything the Stanley lacked, the Woodstock had in spades. Nicely finished, true, flat, and comfortable in the hand. No lapping required. Highly recommended.

Wouldnt it be so easy to tape a heavier item to make stay surounded ...
Where to start, had high hopes for this, thus far its a disapointment.Open the package. Per usual the item was to one side with the bubble plastic to other sides. Wouldnt it be so easy to tape a heavier item to make stay surounded and protected, free tip to amazon. The cap iron was off as well as the iron. Instant red flag since you know its been tossed around during shipping. Open the plastic bag to remove the contents and paints chips are everywhere from the iron scraping the inside of the plane. The iron is design funny too, as in the middle of the blade is cut out then going towards the bad its notch to accomdate the blade advancing. Inspecting the iron its damaged and dinged along the bevel.Keep in mind there was no packing inside the product box, none. Didnt bother checking the iron to see how flat it was. Just for giggels decided to check the sole, a valley in the middle. Rather comicaly unhappy at this point since its not a cheap purchase. Decided to roll the dice and request a replacment. I dont have good expectations. Ill update and maybe take some pics. As a side note i dont expect veritas quality but for 80ish...i do expect better packaging and a little less work to make the items right. The iron is suspect and i bet would flex from the cap being tighten**** update 2/22/2015Received the replacement the box looked like it went through some rough shipping. So where to start at least everything was together the cap and iron all snug. The bad bits, the valley is there again, gap was more than I wanted to deal and really what sealed the return was the right wing also would need work. So I went ahead a ordered a Stanley Sweat heart line low angle block plan, was on sale (not sure about now) so with free shipping it was about 20 more than this block plane. I wait to post my update till after I received that item. The fit and finish is excellent there is a small valley in the middle .0015 from the middle point it extends along the length of the sole for about .75inch. I don't mind working that out. The iron is A2 and the plane has a Norris adjuster. Was able to get very light shavings out of the box. Will be really excellent once its dialed in properly. Some thoughts: I didn't order the wood river L.A. plane due to complaints of the cap falling off and the irons are no longer A2. So for the money I'd say not to deal with iffy tool steel and random milling issue with that valley being large and the wing possibly being off. So pay abit more and get the quality you'd want for still a good price point.

Terrible machine work, awful ergonomics
I've had some Shop Fox tools in the past, was hoping for similar performance from this plane. Not even close! The bronze frog is polished enough, but the rear side grind is awful. The stamped metal in for the controls is pretty accurate, but rough re: fit and finish.Somehow, they've managed to mill the sole in such a manner so that (to the naked eye) the right side of the sole is concave, and the left side is convex. That's a pretty neat trick. The "Shop Fox name isn't cast into the frog, but rather engraved into the left side of the sole, which will wear off if you want to spend the time to work it.I'm not willing to spend that much time on my lapping table to bring the tool back into square/flat.
