The Options Course Second Edition: High Profit & Low Stress Trading Methods (Wiley Trading)

A great option book covering everything
Pros:1. It contains nearly every aspect that you need to know in trading options including different kinds of option spread, choosing a good option broker, some technical analysis and fundamental analysis relating to options and some backgrounds of economies.2. Every type of spread has in-depth explanations and an example of real life stock. In addition, at the end of the book, there are some nice summaries of all the spreads covered in this book.Cons:1. Many topics are beyond the options trading which is the title of this book, so they may confuse you sometimes. I know it's always good to know more, but it just contains too much for me to read. It could be a five-star introductory book if you are the one who has a decent amount of time to read every page of this book.2. The author recommends several times about his own online tool of options. It MAYBE good for options trading, but it is expensive ($190/month) to use the full function of it.

Recommended for serious option traders
This book might not be for beginners. However, it's not difficult to read if you have good math skills and traded in options for a while. I'm just a beginner in options trading and it was no issue reading it. It covers the basics about options, different trading strategies like vertical spreads. What makes the book great is using charts to describe the profit/loss zone for all different methods. This book opened my eyes on the concept of "delta". However, the book has no clear explanation of where "delta" comes from and it's impact on the profit you can make, or its value at certain strike prices. One way to see what the book describe is to look at the delta column for different strike price on live options chain quote screen. This is the most important variable for active option trading. It tells how much percentage of the move you will make if the stock moves say 5 points in you direction. To know more about options formula you need to look at the book "Black Sholes and Beyond" this book is all about mathematics for pricing options and not trading.

Disappointed. Way too much info for a beginner. The LONG road for all others. Underwhelms.
To start, the author is a Harvard MBA, and really knows this information. The book, is a COMPLETE course for BEGINNERS, so if you have any knowledge regarding options, a large portion of this book will be a dated review. For beginners, this book has everything you should know, but the presentation is VERY detailed and dated. Most of the information nation can be gleaned from free sources. For me, I was looking for some help refining my strategies, timing, and improving my edge. Finding that is this book is like finding a needle in a haystack. My recommendation would be a more condensed, direct book.Just an aside. I bought the book used from an Amazon reseller, and the previous owner(s) did not make past the first 90 pages, based on highlighting. My guess is there were at least 2 past owners/reaaders based on handwriting, and highlighting technique. Conclusion: book gives too much info and makes you wait too long to get to the meat.

The Options Course
Very in depth publication on Options Trading. Could be a bit better set out as one tends to get bogged down in the detail and has the effect of one losing interest.Surely options trading is not as difficult as this book tends to make it.

The Options Course Second Edition: High Profit & Low Stress Trading... I like it
This is a very big manual with lots of detail which requires memorization and much rereading. I am working my way through it and expect to be a much better options trader in the months to come as I learn the material well enough tpo apply it to my craft. This is not a "get rich quick" book.

Good book. The author is a good writer and ...
Good book. The author is a good writer and an excellent teacher. Filled with worthy wisdom. I am still reading the book. I found the author very knowledgeable and so I am getting ready to buy a few other books by this author.

Great Knowledge - terrible binding, no customer support.
It's an older print and you can tell as the glue as unbound and the pages are falling out. Amazon also thoughtlessly threw it into a huge box with a few bubbles instead of bubble wrapping so my brand new book arrived with a dent in the corner. Just pure disrespect for this bibliophile. Both Amazon and Wiley blame each other. Amazon's response is return it for a new one...completely wasteful. This book came highly recommended and was a good read and walked through the basics of options trading along with scenarios. I will keep it as a good reference. The one thing that all option reference books are lacking is the scenario when the market goes in the wrong direction. How do you salvage your losses? The author is long dead but I certainly appreciate his clear and simple writing for a novice like me!

Love this book!
I love Fontanills books, it's a shame that he died in 2009. I've read both the first and second edition of this book and I prefer the first edition. In the first edition he goes right to the point but still explaining everything very well. In the second edition he expanded every concept but loosing the right to the point approach. So the second edition is 200 pages more but doesn't add a lot in terms of knowledge or simplicity.
