I need bowls that I can carry soup in without it spilling out the lid. Do the lids for these bowls fit tight and therefore make them leak proof?

No way are these lids leak proof, (CB-20), or suitable for carrying liquids or dry products of any kind that you don not intend to spill if not kept on a stationary surface.My lids are more like loose fitting covers that allow the three bowls to be stacked, (just like they were initially packaged), or as they are shown in the picture. With the lids in place you cannot even tilt the bowls sideways without the lids falling off when they have wet or dry contents.I just visited the Progressive website and they have introduced a new product with leakproof lids, CB-25.

Are these 100% food-grade Silicone?

These bowls have no silicone in them. These bowls are a combination of Polypropylene and Thermoplastic elastomers.

Do they have weird odor or do they make the stored food smell weird? Thanks.

I gave them as a gift to my sister. She has not said anything about an odor or food tasting funny. Says they work great in microwave, dishwasher, & freezer.

Are the thinstore ones better?

I have never had the ones you mentioned therefore I cannot compare them. The prep works are very nice.
