Must read for nurses
This book is AMAZING! Fun, honest, light hearted and deep as well! The full spectrum of nursing...hopefully it helps the newer nurses prepare for some of the unmentioned nurse on nurse crimes as well as the older nurses who can maybe go back and think about how it felt to be so new, holding the gravity of someone life in your hands!!!! Any of these reviews before must be some missed placed anger cause this book had me laugh, crying, reflecting, and wanting more for myself and my patients 🥰

A must read
This book is a must read for any nurse, especially the "baby" nurses. It provides comic relief while reminding the reader that nurses are human. Loved this book.

Great for new grads!
I just started reading this book & instantly love it! I’m a new grad LPN totally using my fiancé amazon to purchase this book, but this book is great for anyone who is new in the nursing field. Just took my NCLEX & waiting for my results, this is helping to distract myself. This book is like therapy for my anxiety about starting a new job I have starting this week. Anyways I never read books but I definitely recommend this one!!

Funny Fast Read
The amount of typos and grammar errors, coupled with words just entirely left out of sentences earned this 4 stars instead of 5. I like the way the author sets her tone. She is relatable and humorous. However, having to stop constantly to read through an error makes this book not as enjoyable as it could be. As she gets better at writing, hopefully she will get an editor and a better publisher. I believe she has great things to say and wonderful experience to impart.

Wonderful read.
I wish there had been more recollections of incidents that had actually happened. I would have been able to give it 5 stars of the author had included more of them. Other than that, it was a very well-written book & I am definitely passing this along to my daughter who is entering nursing school this Fall.

Not many practical tips here
While I did like the book, it's not really the type of book I can refer back to as a reference that has practical tips, which is what i was looking for. If that's what you're looking for, buy Caroline Porter Thomas' book. I wanted to know how to prepare and organize/prioritize as a new nurse. I wanted to read about how terrifying it was to step onto the unit for the first time and Know that I'm not alone for feeling this way.... How to handle a mistake that was made or other practical things new nurses could use advice on. The author is endearing and spunky, but the stories are more of a reflection on her experiences and doesn't really lend any practical advice. For example, she says that'll you'll remember the first person that dies, and how nursing school didn't prepare her for that. Like, it's kind of common sense i guess. Of course I'll remember the first patient that dies, and of course I'll remember my first code. I don't know, I guess I'm kind of disappointed that the writing is just kind of surface level and it doesn't truly go deep into the subject she's talking about.

Very good. A interesting insight into the role of the Nurse. Was sad that it ended.

Perfect for all nurses
This book gave me some hope as a new nurse! I went from stable, medically cleared patients on a mental health unit to stable and unstable patients on a medical unit. So many things Sonja speaks about I have already experienced! Knowing I'm not alone was reassuring! Sonja speaks of the good, the bad, and the ugly! I laughed my way through this book!

Insightful, hilarious and honest
This book is wonderful! I’ve been a nurse for just over 2 years and related to almost everything Sonja writes about. The Ten Commandments made me laugh so hard. Great for new nurses and seasoned nurses looking for a bit of inspiration.
