Jackie: The Clothes of Camelot

This book arrived early this afternoon and in two hours I had read it from cover and cover. Then I went back and studied each picture again. Jackie's style was so classic and timeless. She was an example of elegant dressing and showed the world the meaning of grace under pressure. Many times in my own life I looked back on her dignity and courage in the darkest days of her life and found the strength to go on myself. It was wonderful to see some new pictures and be reminded of a time of true elegance. Looking closely at the various photos you can see how Jackie's style influenced the clothes of Diana and more recently, Queen Rania of Jordan.

This book is STUNNING to look at. I have not bought it yet, but plan to soon. It has lived up to and has surpassed its expectations. Mind you, I only just flipped through it. However, I read Mulveney's previous book, and it was excellent, so I know this will be as well. There are lots and lots of photos from the Camelot years. The layout of the book is very good. And every photo is good--showing the whole outfit, dress, essembly, etc. I bring that up, because I have another book on Jackie fashion, and not always the whole outfit, etc is shown. And if one is paying for a book on fashion--well, wouldn't you want to see the whole outfit?? This book, though "small," is definitely SPECTATULAR to look at. ...

I must confess that I am a big fan of Jackie O, so I may sound biased.This book was just great! There are page after page of pictures of Jackie in her camelot clothes, with sometimes lengthy descriptions of the event the dress was worn for, how the dress was created or even what Jackie thought of each dress.Just fabulous! I'm really hoping that the author might write about my two other favorite style mavens- Audrey Hepburn and Grace Kelly.

Loved Jackie's style and it is great to see it all in one book.

This book is a journey into the wardrobe of Mrs. John F. Kennedy during a time of change. From everyday clothes to specially made gowns for formal international ceremonies, this book takes one back in time when ladies were ladies and fashions were elegant yet simple.

This is fun to stroll through - what an elegant lady -- to be admired and imitated.

ファッションのお手本について語られるとき、有名な女優たちと並んで必ず登場するのがジャクリーン・ケネディ・オナシス。彼女のファッションはシンプルな美しさが好きです。彼女のファッションについての写真本はいろいろありますが、これは掲載写真が多く、ジャッキーのファッションを見て楽しみたい人にはお勧めの1冊です。英文の文章説明がぎっしりのものはちょっと。。という人にも写真をおっていくだけでも充分楽しめるかと思います。でも、写真の横に簡潔に書かれた説明文が多いので英文でも読んでみようかという気になりますし、文章自体難しいことはありません。様々なレセプションやホワイトハウス、遊説先でのジャッキーの多くのファッションのほか、少女のころの写真や年をとって!からの写真、また彼女が手を加えた（その莫大な費用がよく批判の対象になったりしていますが）ホワイトハウス内のインテリアなども数点紹介されています。

表紙がビミョーだったけど、購入しました。バランスのとれた内容が入門編ってカンジで良いと思います。

写真に色がないのが残念。 ドレスが多くて、普段着が少ないのも残念。 もともと公式のスタイルが多いからかな。
