A Brilliant Book About Managing Big Feelings
Ravi’s Roar is a beautifully illustrated story that helps kids understand and manage big emotions like anger. Ravi’s transformation into a roaring tiger perfectly captures how frustration can feel overwhelming—and the book gently shows how to express those feelings in a healthy way. The vibrant illustrations and relatable story make it perfect for children aged 3–7, and it’s a great conversation starter about emotions. A must-have for parents and caregivers looking to nurture emotional intelligence.

Tactful, just the right level of directness
Firstly, the book was a lot larger and better quality than I was expecting, for some reason. It feels like a lovely book to hold and read and the illustrations are outstanding. But really, what I like about this book is its subtlety. My 5yo foster son struggles with self-regulation and we read this book together this evening without it feeling like a lecture or a list of advice for him. Its a nice story which makes sense and explains why the character feels angry and what that anger feels like. It also explains the consequences of being angry for the character. We didn't need to dwell on any of this - it just put it all out there for us to pick up at a later date (maybe when my little one is next struggling, I might suggest that it seems like his tiger is coming out). The reason why I have given this book 4 stars rather than 5 is just because of the line 'and his tiger never came out again.' Which is fantastic for the character, but for most of us, that tiger does sometimes lurk around threatening to make an appearance! It's just not necessary to say, and I don't want little one to feel like he's failing when his tiger does come out because he does have a lot to rightly be angry about. But yes. I would strongly recommend this book to anyone with a child aged 2-7, as it is a great way to help little ones to become aware of their emotions. This book will be going with my little man when he leaves and I will be buying more copies for my next children; it is one of the good ones out there (and I read a lot of blurbs for less subtle books on my journey to finding this one). Recommend.

Great book to help children learn about anger and how to express it in a healthy way
Purchased to use in my children’s meditation group for infant school age to help children learn about and explore anger and temper tantrums. The book is about Ravi who lets out his inner tiger and then learn about the consequences of his actions and helps children to learn about expressing and understanding their own emotions in a healthy way. Children can learn why Ravi feels angry and how that feels, and stimulates conversations around emotions to help educate in an understandable way. The length of the book and the illustrations are perfect to keep children engaged.

I bought this thinking it would be a good way to explain to my child about angry feelings, and resolving them. Actually it shows Ravi having an absolute blast being rude and shouty for about 4 pages and then 1 page of remorse.

This book has been such a great tool for helping my son understand feelings and emotions in a way that makes sense to him. The language is clear, age-appropriate, and the illustrations really keep him engaged. He’s only five, but he’s already using the words from the book to describe how he feels, which is huge. I love that it opens up natural conversations about things like frustration, sadness, excitement, and more. It’s perfect for bedtime reading or quiet time, and I’ve even recommended it to a few teachers and fellow parents. If you’re looking for a helpful, child-friendly emotions book that supports social-emotional learning, this one is 100% worth it. It’s become a regular part of our routine.
