Saves you hundreds in plumbing bills, but read the pro-tips below to maximize benefits.
Our old house has old sewer pipes prone to root intrusion. Several years ago our plumber recommended Root-X, and it's saved us thousands of dollars in plumbing costs over time. Pro - Tips: 1) Apply Root-X within 30 minutes of having the pipes roto-rootered. The Root-X foam expands and coats the inside of the pipes top, sides and bottom as well as the freshly cut roots, preventing regrowth for up to a year. I've found that periodic reapplication (about every six months) delays the inevitable root intrusion. 2) Do NOT, repeat do NOT apply Root-X through your sink or toilet. The directions say you can, but it can back up into the house creating a huge, sticky mess; it coats the internal pipes, where you don't have a root problem, but doesn't travel to the external pipes. Just don't. 3) The funnel cone is worth $5, save it for future use, but you'll probably need to extend it with cardboard.

easy to pour and use
easy to use with pour spout. I had a backup in the plumbing a few months ago and found we had a root growing into the pipe but pipe overall was ok. Was recommended this product to kill part of root in pipe but leave tree perfectly healthy. So far after 2 applications tree is perfectly fine and growing and it seemed to foam as it should. Will update in a year or 2 once i get the plumber back out with camera to verify issue is still resolved after using this stuff a few more times. But so far no backup in water at all.

Worked to seal cracks in sewer line and keep roots from coming thru
Worked great. Recommend by plumber to use every 6 months because of Crack in sewer line. Recommended 6 lbs, but time i order a 2 lb of wrong type. Plumber said the 4 lbs were fine. I wasn't ready to excavated and replaced. Used for almost 2 years. Then For almost a year didn't use. I don't have but a few roots in my line. About 6 months later I replaced the sewer line.

Does it’s job
I have an old home with old pipes that drain slowly at times. This was recommended by a plumber to help with the roots they have broken the line to help keep things running properly. Foams up pretty quickly and takes a while to get it all down the drain but seems to work decent. I don’t have a sewage clean out that I put it in, just the floor drain which is why. But like I said I have an old home.

It works, and is well worth the cost
I've used RootX for years now. When I moved into my house, which was built int 1907, I was having constant sewage back-up from root growth. I used several of the box store foaming root killers, but they didn't stop the backup. I started using RootX, and have never had a problem since then. I've gone a year between applications without a problem, but because I've had so many issues, I typically apply every six to nine months just to be safe. However, keep in mind that this prevents root growth; it's not meant to unclog stopped lines. I've always used the four-pound container applied through a sewer cleanout. I've never tried the two-pound container through the toilet, but seeing how much the four-pound container foams, I don't think I'd risk trying the two-pounder through the toilet. I learned a few things the hard way. First, wear an N95 mask. When I dump it down the sewer clean-out, a lot of fine particulate (like dust) gets suspended in the air, and I can't imagine it's great to breathe. Second, have four five-gallon buckets ready to pour in (for the four-pound container). The first time I used it, I used one bucket and would fill it each time. The RootX foamed out of the clean-out while I was refilling.

Easy to use and well worth the money especially with big trees on your property
We use this at one of our properties that’s an older home with large trees on the lot. It’s a bit pricey, but it does exactly what we need it to do by helping prevent roots from growing into our sewer line. Easy to use with the included funnel/applicator and worth it for the peace of mind.

Keeps roots out of drain lines!
I was having plumbers use this product to keep tree roots from clogging and damaging my sewer drain lines. After seeing it done several times I decided to save on the plumbers prices and do it myself. The 4 lb. size is perfect for home application and it mixes the two components easily with no mess or spillage. It is VERY important to have buckets of water ready to go immediately after pouring Root-X into the cleanup. As soon as it contacts water it foams and expands to go both upstream and downstream in the pipeline. If you don't have the proper amount of water ready to pour the Root-x will expand up and out of the cleanup. I don't recommend using it directly into a toilet for this reason. It could get messy very quickly as it foams up fast! Much safer to use outdoors. My clean-out is in the ground outside so the Root-X pours straight down into it. It's probably more difficult to use in a clean-out that is sticking out of the wall. You can't use any water or flush toilets for 6 to 8 hours after application or the root-X will not have time to work! Just follow all instructions and protect your sewer lines!

Works!
We have bought this several times over the past few years. We have a big old tree close to our sewer line and old clay pipes, the roots have grown into our sewer line and this is a good temporary fix till we can get things done more permanently later. We hear about it from our neighbor who also deals with the same problem, (our houses are over 80 years old) so we tried it. We pour it down our outdoor access hole and add 5 gallons of water to it. We don't use any water for at least 12 hour (while we sleep) and then we are good to go. It has kept us from having to call the plumbers to come clear our lines out for years now. It kills the roots in our lines so that our sewer water can more easily get to the main sewer line. I would recommend to anyone with the same issues we have. It is fast, safe when using gloves and a mask, and it doesn't have an odor that I noticed. Works really well!
