Best tin whistle!
This is the best whistle I’ve played-the sound is more mellow and less shrill than the plastic ones. It has a wood block and is metal, tin? I have arthritis in my neck and hands and this is the only instrument I can play anymore, it was extremely easy to learn! It has a fingering chart and most tin whistle books have finger placements so you wouldn’t even have to know how to read music! What a deal!

Wow - more than pleased
I got one of these because I needed a Clarke in D, and I heard these Natural Originals had been discontinued. When it arrived today I immediately pulled it out of the box and began playing. Big disappointment - all I got were squeaks and squeals. So I set it down and played another whistle for a while. Then I picked this one up again and gave it another try. What a difference! The notes came out pure and sweet, well into the second octave. It's true what they say - 90% of the problems with a whistle come from the whistle player (full disclosure - I only started playing the tin whistle two weeks ago; I am a complete novice). This whistle is a gem - I'm so glad I bought one!

Fun And Inexpensive
This is a fun little item for those like me who just dabble a bit in folk music. It's a bit pitchy and difficult to make a good sound on the higher notes, and the lower notes are a little soft, but it's easy to learn and great for beginners and amateurs while not feeling cheap.

Too breathy
Too breathy even as a flute player I find myself dizzy playing this one. Maybe just me but be prepared for using your lungs otherwise in tune easy to play. Higher octave not difficult and seems forgiving in tone.

Why is it painted?
If it's a tin whistle like the 'original' it wouldn't be spray painted to look 'tin'. It gets 4 stars because it is nice, I like the shape of the fipple, and the tone is sweet and easy, but I do not like the gray paint for an 'original' whistle. You can see that it is actually made of tin, so why the extra coating? I will need to invest in a true tin, or nickel plated whistle instead as I do 18th century impression, and spray painted gray wasn't yet a thing.

It sounds sweet, I know how to play flute so this ...
It sounds sweet, I know how to play flute so this isn't an issue for me to play this.As long as you keep a slow steady flow of air sounds beautiful. I love how they keep it traditionally made.

A really great whistle. Pleasantly surprised.
My kids and I have played penny whistles for years, and we wanted to try this one because of the historical value. It sounds really great out of the box, and no tweaking was required. It blows easily on the low and high notes, and feels good in the hand. As a matter of fact it is quickly becoming our favorite. Seems that this would be good for beginners because it's forgiving of finger placement. It's not tunable as far as I can tell, but that's ok.

Doesn't play. Bad purchase
This tin whistle is definitely my worst purchase from Amazon. The metal was dented at the mouth piece area. Cant even blow air in the whistle. The wood inside has a gap on the right ie metal casting around the wood is not proper. The whistle doesnt look the same as in the image as well, it looks very dull with no metallic shine.
