This is so cute! The wood is nice and smooth. It’s a medium size. Some would say small, but for my purposes, I am using it for clay so for me the size great! Also included was a small-ish circle cookie cutter set and a silicone basting brush. Shipped quickly, but was delayed by Amazon in shipping, as usual lately.

The pin is very durable and sturdy, something you can had down for generations. When rolling it made a clean, nice impression in the dough, nothing stuck or remained in the design. My only complaint is within the instructions on preparing it for the first time. The instructions tell you to soak it in water for several hours and then use a cooking oil to season it. First off, soaking wood for long periods of time for this application is not wise. This opens it up for warping, splitting and breaking down the wood. Second, cooking oil will turn rancid. So, don't soak the wood in water, use wood cutting board conditioner or mineral oil.

It works (kind of) If you use direct pressure putting hands on top of roller medium to heavy pressure it works fine, at least with gingerbread. Perhaps it may work better with other doughs so 3 stars.

Perfect for what I needed it for! Instead of using for cookies I used it for some air dry clay pieces!

I originally bought this for an arts & crafts project but it is so pretty I am going to make cookies first. Who knows I may have to buy another ...one for my crafts and one for cooking!

The rolling pins cut out are deep enough so the pattern really shows. The 2 recipe booklet is very helpful with 2 of my favorite cookies. Lemon and gingerbread. Also good for the holidays.. a nice silicon brush and 3 cookie cutters come with it. It's a great package.
