The textbook came in good condition.
I disliked the lack of information that was given prior to renting the textbook. I received no email on the date I had to return the book by. Therefore, I got a heavy charge for the textbook and cannot get a refund.

Great condition
Thank you to the seller. This item was in great condition and it saved me a lot of money. Usually purchasing this item from the book store would have cost me 15$ more and the condition may have not been all that great. This book was also shipped very fast and I received it in less than a week.

Professors and Instructors, Please Choose Something Else
Amazon is not at fault for this poor review. Their rental book arrived swiftly and in very good condition. The problem is with the book's content.I'm not sure if my professor read this. I'm not even finished with Chapter 1 yet, and I can already tell that this book is going to be a difficult read. Not many people read the prefaces of books but I decided I would. This is the entire first paragraph of said preface:"When I received a telephone call at my office in Fall 1996 (you never know who is going to call or what that person is going to ask you) from Dr. Larry Ortiz, who is now the program director of the social work department of California State University, Dominguez Hills, to give a workshop on cultural competence at the 1997 Annual Program Meeting (APM) of the Council on Social Work Education in Chicago from Dr. Larry Ortiz who is now the program director of the social work department of California State University Dominguez Hills with a MSW program focus on cultural competence, to give a workshop on cultural competence at the 1997 Annual Program Meeting (APM) of the Council on Social Work Education in Chicago, I readily agreed, knowing that I knew little or nothing about the subject."Do you notice how much the author rambles and also how they repeat it in the second half of the paragraph? Based on the part of Chapter One I've read, it doesn't seem to improve much in the main text. Here's another interesting tidbit for you: "Cultural competence and culturally competent practice are inclusively all of the aforementioned and yet has many miles to go to reach maturity as a scientifically respectable social science helping system approach." There certainly has to be a better way to explain this point than that adjective-heavy phrase at the end, among other grammar errors.I see myself filing a formal complaint with my school's Social Work Department and requesting that they remove this book from their textbook list.Tl;dr: This is going to be a long semester for me and everyone else who has to read this BS. This author can't write to save their life and apparently the editor is either non-existent or very bad at their job. Based on other reviews, it sounds like the message the author is attempting to convey is just as bad as the structure and grammar.

Gets the job done.
Content is alright - I've read more compelling texts in regards to cultural competence but it's an easy read. It serves it's purpose as a required text. I received this book in great condition in a timely manner.

Great!
Fantastic book! I even read the chapters that were not assigned by my instructor, just because they were interesting. Written well, easy to read, relevant information, and searchable. A+
