Friendship through Dark Fantasy
Wow. Where to start? At the start I guess.Gf surprised me with The Wild Hunt in 2015. I never wanted it, not liking the gameplay I had seen, never having been acquainted with The Witcher world. Loved it. Bought Hearts of Stone and Blood and Wine, playing everything through. I fell for the writing of the game and realized the source material must have been even better. Was over halfway through Sapkowskis series when gf decided to join in and I started over. Were about to finish The Baptism of Fire, and we have an amazing bond over these stories. We even love the Netflix series.PRODUCT REVIEW: On to this product, the tabletop rpg. When I discovered it, I had to have it. I have a friend 1000 miles away that I play online with but we’re always wanting to hangout closer, just difficult with our schedules. Upon starting a campaign, I decided to invite him and our other friend to join in over a Google Docs format. They were hesitant at first, one even taking a single turn before never mentioning it again (my good friend loved it immediately and wrote in that dwarven merchants murder, due to impatience). But my good friend is now an elven mage (with IBS), sired by Scoia’tel. My gf plays a nilfgaardian bard abandoned by her parents in search of her lost voice. I GM as a cat school Witcher just trying to get through life after abandoning his hermit ways, enjoying his new companions. We could not have had more fun. We have written a collective 60k+ words through 6 quests. We have not even included characters from the stories because our own (npcs included) are more than interesting. The design of the book along with the writings Sapkowski and CD Projekt Red provided allow for an incredible amount of original content to be created and enjoyed. I just picked up Lords and Lands expansion the other day and am unendingly excited to add these new characters to the game. The book is well written, has great art, and is simultaneously in-depth enough while being simplistic. It stays faithful to the source material and leaves so much room to make your own stories. I only wanted a 10 quest campaign or so and am scrambling to get that to happen. I am going to be closer to 15. My gf wants to dm and I cannot wait to experience the other side of this game. Above all, it gave me the unique way of connecting with an old friend in a way not possible by other means. I will be forever grateful for this alone.

My favorite corebook that I own
I absolutely love this book. Honestly a fun read just for all the lore and tidbits in it alone, if you're as interested in the witcher as I am. The game itself is a bit mathy but once you get the hang of it, it runs well.Everything is well organized and the artwork is fantastic, with only a few tiny problems. Two pictures that I can recall are a bit pixelated, as if a smaller picture was blown up to fit the page. Most noticable one would be for the endrega entry in the bestiary. The bestiary is my other minor complaint, as it feels a little lacking considering how many monsters do exist in the witcher universe. A few noteworthy creatures are missing from it, namely the leshens, foglets, most vampires, and draconids. This is compensated by the work of a dedicated fan who put together a well balanced and professional monster manual pdf to go with the game that includes all that I listed and much more. To those interested in that, a quick google search should find you the pdf. Overall, I love the book and it's easily my favorite corebook in my collection.

Wonderfully done Player’s/GM combo book
Beautiful art inside! There isn’t a lot, but what is there is truly stunning! It’s a d10/d6 system, if you’re curious. Thumbing through it last night, it’s broken down nicely. It is a combined Player’s/DM(GM)/Monster Manual combo. While I love Player/DM combined books, I am hoping they will release an independent monster manual/bestiary, whatever you want to call it. Looking forward to reading it tonight while family tells the same stories we’ve been hearing for years. /wink Thanks for a beautiful, well done book.

Lots good ideas with some cracks in the writing
For starters this is a fun game with a lot of good ideas and great art! It's a fun break from dnd though I wouldn't call it a replacement. I like the combat system and I like the addition of a system for verbal combat rather than just a static roll. Great for roleplay! My biggest criticism is the mechanical disparity even within classes. I get that a bard shouldn't be able to go toe-to-toe with a werewolf to the same degree as a witcher (that just makes sense) but even during character creation a friend of mine who was building a witcher side by side with me would do some hypothetical encounters while learning the system and we found some glaring, but not game breaking, balance issues. There is also a little bit of a lacking equipment roster and bestiary but this has since been expanded in supplements.

Fantastic game
This is a fantastic game that goes so much further in depth than it needs to. From a crafting and alchemy system with massive ingredients lists, to its monsters. Everything about this game is done fantastic. I highly recommend for any experienced group looking for something new

Great knowledge source
I'm playing with huge fans of the video game (which I've never played). The book provided great information so I was up-to-date on the lore of the world and could create interesting campaigns.
