Excellent easy to use camera
Bought this for recent trip to the Maldives. It was the first time I had used an underwater camera and I was worried it might leak and I wasn't sure what the quality of pictures would be like. I need not have worried - the camera was robust and leak proof and took really good photos. It is easy to use underwater and stays on standby for a long time so you're not constantly having to switch it on/off. It has a decent zoom which was more than adequate for snorkelling over reefs and I even used the movie function to film a shark and some stingrays and again the footage was very good. The pictures are easy to review on the camera and very easy to download onto my computer. The camera takes AA batteries which will last about an hour if it is on almost constant standby - I found this to be fine as I would simply change them after an hours snorkelling ready for my next excursion underwater. The battery compartment can be a little fiddly to access initially but after a couple of times of opening and shutting it you get the hang of it. I used it twice a day for a week and took hundreds of photos with it ( I bought a 32gb micro memory card to go with it) All in all a smashing little camera and well worth the price. (I would recommend buying a floating wrist-strap too as I found this kept my camera secure and would be very useful if you dropped the camera whilst swimming).

Pretty good camera and takes some nice pictures
I wanted an inexpensive camera for some snorkeling and also take pictures of my kids swimming. This one looked good and so I took a chance on it. It's pretty good and I've taken some good pictures with it so far. Cons for me are that the batteries don't last too long but that's not such a terrible thing, just make sure you take spares; it can be hard to see the screen underwater in the sun so somtimes you are not quite sure what you are taking pictures of! It's good for my purpose but if you want something a bit more robust and take your time shooting pictures, it is probably not for you.

Fabulous!
Fantastic wee camera. I did lots of research to get a point and click easy to use camera for our holiday in Florida this easter without compromising on quality. This one does what it says on the tin - I was delighted. It is really easy to use. Takes photos and videos - with sound (NB you can only hear the sound once you play back on laptop - there is no facility to listen to videos when viewing on the camera itself). I was also worried about the battery cover (having read other reviews)- but there was no need to be concerned at all - it is very simple - push a tab up then slide the cover to the right, which enables it to spring open. I downloaded my pictures onto laptop easily using the enclosed cable. Great photo quality. I hardly ever write reviews but I wanted to for this as it really did surpass my expectations for the price.

ordered this for my daughter the first one arrived and ...
ordered this for my daughter the first one arrived and we could not open it at all not even on taking it to curry's to see if they could, Amazon quickly replaced it and still had problems as the instructions aren't clear took to a local store who also had trouble tried one more place they had trouble too, then they worked it out you don't just pull leaver to allow it to open up as picture shows you have to hold leaver then slide the compartment door which is a little stiff but guess needs to be for waterproof, think the instructions could be clearer as was nearly returning this as well. Anyway after finally getting batteries and sd card in she has taken a few photos you have to keep a hold of the take button for a few seconds as not instant but pics look ok, not tried it in water as yet so can't comment on that but its an ok little camera once you know how to open it, look forward to testing the underwater feature

Poor quality

Don't waste your money.
I'm sorry, I wanted to like this, I really did. I think I would have done better to buy a disposable one or to spend maybe twice as much and get better quality. Where can I start with what's wrong with it? Hmm. That's tricky. Well, how about the fact that it uses batteries up like nobody's business. I know it probably depends on the quality of the batteries but even so. One set of batteries took 12 pictures before throwing in the towel. That was the batteries bought on site which were of dubious origin, as we hadn't expected the first set to give up as quickly as they did - they were Duracell and took around 40 pictures but that was just one session in the pool. Even with good batteries, the second lot of Duracell that we bought lasted two sessions in the pool and even they weren't up to having the flash on. If you opted for photos with the flash, instead of taking the picture a message came up saying 'flash charging' or something like that. So we had to try to take pictures only in the sun and only in the shallow end. We were lucky and had a few days with sunshine but even so we never got any pictures that were really great. This brings me on to the second major drawback and that is the darkness of the screen underwater. You basically couldn't see what you were aiming at. ALL of the pictures were just 'best guess' hence we got a lot of pictures of elbows, chests, armpits, bums, empty water etc. and very few of faces. I've included a few of the very worst and the very best. There isn't a great deal of difference between them. You can see from the 'action' shot that the shutter wasn't fast enough to capture the person jumping only the splash they left. Another really annoying thing about the camera is the fact that even though I chose 'no date stamp' option from the menu it put the photos in my album on the computer as January 2015. So I learned that the first day, and the next day I thought I was ready for it and set the date before heading to the pool. However, the batteries ran out and it didn't preserve the date during the battery change or any time the batteries ran out. So I was caught out again. Every day/session thereafter I set the date and what an annoying task that was. Getting the battery cover off twice a day was hellish. It's SO awkward. If a camera is going to need a battery change every day then make the cover easier to get off, or don't have a date function at all. I wasted precious battery power on trawling through the menu to get to the date function. You have to set the time as well as the default setting is midnight so if you set it in the afternoon without the time then the next day's photos (if your batteries last that long) will have the wrong date embedded in them. As for the quality of the pictures on land, it's best we don't go there at all.

The battery life was fine we had no issues on that front
I read lots of reviews for this camera, the battery compartment is difficult to open the first time, but its the way it's designed to avoid water seepage. there's a certain way to open it just remember how you did it for next time!. The battery life was fine we had no issues on that front. Yes it is difficult to see images you are taking through the back of the camera, but the point and shoot method seemed to work. It took good quality pictures underwater, in fact some of the images where water is splashed, i.e. jumping in the water, the quality of the splash is pin sharp. The video function is a little pixelated but for the price we paid, I thought it did the job really well.

FANTASTIC!
I was a bit wary about buying this camera as i searched for 2 days for reviews and found none. The title says 10mp but you can actually set it to 3mp, 5mp, 10mp or 16mp, I've set mine at 16mp and this lets me take over 900 photos with a 4gb micro sd card. I thought this camera would be good for my photography course at university and it is great! it takes fantastic photographs and is quick and easy to use. The flash takes around 7seconds to load however but i havent needed to use in underwater as of yet. Fantastic little camera and great for the price, I would definitely recommend to anyone wanting a cheap yet reliable little camera! The only thing however is it eats through the batteries, ive used a set of AAA duracell rechargeable batteries and they took about 30photos before dying, so definitely bring a spare set!
