Guitar virtuoso Rory Gallagher, who toured incessantly in the eighties, did not return home to Ireland until 1987, where he performed at the Opera House in Cork. This exciting homecoming event was captured by Irish Television and is now being released. An absolute treasure for fans, this DVD features not only the concert (originally released on VHS as 'Messin' with the Kid - Live at the Cork Opera House'), but some stellar bonus material. 'Rough Guide to Rory's Cork' gets close and personal with Gallagher, featuring footage of his hometown, photos, memorabilia, and anecdotes. There is also another short documentary called 'Big Guns' and a comprehensive discography.

Great show from Rory. The show gives a good representation of what Rory was all about. The set presents a good mix of Gallagher tunes from "Tattoo'd Lady" to the Sonny Boy Williamson tune "When My Baby She Left Me". Two acoustic numbers are stellar by Rory, "Out On The Western Plain" and "Wanted Blues" (which showcases Rory's resonator slide guitar). The camera work is decent here providing good examples of Rory's fretwork, something that was lacking on The Irish Tour DVD. Overall a big thumbs up. Buy it now you won't be sorry.

Rory Gallagher : Live In Cork I purchased Rory Gallagher Live in Cork as a gift for a friend of mine. I'm a Gallagher fan, so I knew that it would be good, and I was right - my friend loved it. If you never had to opportunity to experience Roy Gallagher live and in person, this is the next best thing. You wont be disappointed.

Great show!
Rory comes out ripping for his hometown, and this video catches it all. The interactive menus are good as well. This DVD is just more evidence of the talent that the world lost when he passed. Thanks to Donal Gallagher for keeping the footage coming! For those of us too young to see Rory before he passed, this is another Gem!

Once you hear Rory's roar.. there is no turning back... his blues light the night.This one was not the one I thought it was, I thought it was the 1974 concert.. butthe best thing Rory had was this amazing ability to not play any song the sameso every time you saw him it was a true experience. My only wishis that I was aware of him back when he came through my town .
