Worked great!
I made a birthday card for a friend and it was my first time using oil pastels so I was really nervous about putting it in an envelope, or even touching it in general lol. I smudged up a card I made with pencil not too long ago and all the time I spent making each individual hair went right down the drain and I was so sad. So I was looking for something to seal my cards with so they didn't get messed up. I have only put one coat on so far but it made the colors in my card really pop! I can see and feel the seal on it so I have no doubt once I add another coat it will be well protected. I had no problem getting even coverage, there were no drips, and it dried very quickly. The only thing that kind sucked was it's winter and really cold outside so I had to spray it inside and it's no different than using spray paint, the smell is quite strong so if you can use it outside or in a well ventilated area that would be best. I looked at several other sealants and chose this one because of the price, I was not disappointed. It should last me a really long time. I really haven't done much art since high school over 20 years ago, so I'm just a casual "artist" and my opinion probably isn't worth much, but I was very happy with my purchase. I look forward to sealing more cards and creations with it!!

Artist MUST HAVE! YES, you can continue to work on your art! and other uses - see photos
This was a great find for me. And it does just what it says. It stops the mediums from bleeding and smearing, and still allows you to work on your art. You can even still access layers below it if you work at it, in case you discover something you'd like to change later. I used it on every photo of my artwork pictured here. For me, I use it to fix a piece at a point when I want to "save" where it's at, before adding more to it. For instance: after sketching and about to add watercolor, I find this Fixative to be very helpful from keeping the graphite from bleeding into the paint (as long as I don't let it get too wet). I also use it when my graphite sketches are smearing too much, as long as it's at a place I'm happy with. It stops the smearing completely and allows me to continue sketching without destroying what I've done to that point. Using it with ink-jet copies - I also found that on certain sketches that I want to experiment with, I make faint ink-jet copies of the original to try different ideas. But ink-jet copier ink is very subject to bleed with water, and will ruin your painting. So I spray 2 to 3 coats of this fixative on the copy before adding paint, to avoid that. Again, too much fluid will defeat this, so keep that in mind. In my attached photos, the first 4 show progressions from sketch to painting that I especially used this product in between. There were many more phases that I used this between, but I think this give you the idea. The rest of the photos I also used the fixative for progressive stages. And of course, on the finished artwork before framing. Can using this backfire? Yes, but you can often work back through it enough to correct something. But after a few times jumping the gun, I try to really be sure I am happy before I fix it. Yes, it's workable, but not preferable to have to. I will never be without this product on hand. It does everything it says it will. And the odor isn't bad at all...I kind of like the fragrance! *shrug* While I wouldn't go as far as to spray my watercolors or sketches indoors, I do spray them outside, wave them around a bit, then bring in my art to dry without an odor problem. And it dies FAST. To the touch in just about 5 minutes. But let it dry longer...and hour or more, if you would like to work over it. More than 5 stars!!

A must-have for artists
If you know how much oil pastels smudge, then you should know how important it is to get something like this!!!! This works SO well, after two coats Iโve been able to swipe my finger across the entire piece without it smudging or getting any on my finger. It only took a few seconds to put on and it was very easy to use. Itโs matte and doesnโt leave any glowy finishes on your pieces which I like a lot. I highly recommend this !

Great for pencil art and leaves no tint
I use this over all my art works since I usually use pencils and my sketchbook smudges. It doesnโt give the page a shine or icky feeling after spraying which I like because so many others do. Sometimes I have to add 2 layers in drawings with lots of pencil everywhere which is expected. It covers my 12x12 sketchbook well and it doesnโt leave any tint on the page (it could as it ages but I havenโt had issues so far). Its not messy at all, its pretty direct to where you want it to go. The only issue I have is the smell. I know there will be one with these types of things but it lingers. I try to spray it in the garage or open a window, just so the chemical smell isnโt in my bedroom. It dissipates in about 15 minutes for me. Overall I really like it and I recommend this to every artist I know!

high quality
works very well. my oil pastel art gets sealed perfectly that it almost looks like a print. only downfall is the very toxic smell but thatโs what we get for spraying chemicals on our art to preserve ir

Faulty product
Faulty can. More fixative dripped out of it than sprayed. Yes followed the usage instructions and cleared the nozzle. Poorly made product.

One of a kind..I think!
Only thing that does this specific job that I, or any of my 'arty' friends have ever found. Allows layers of media to be used, fixing as you go, then adding more. Perfect.

Does not work!!
if i could give a red warning star i would. i used half a can on a pastel painting with no affect, i couldnt add any more layers no matter how much spray i used, how long i left to dry etc etc. i started with small amounts and gradually increased, NOTHING WORKED!! Really dissapointed with this expensive product, will never buy again a hope no one else does either!
