Song of the Lioness Quartet (Boxed Set): Alanna; In the Hand of the Goddess; The Woman Who Rides Like a Man; Lioness Rampant Paperback – October 21, 2014

I got this hardcover box set on Tuesday around 2p and was already finished with all 4 books around 10p Thursday evening, so I guess I was really focused on reading the past 2.5 days! The series is just as I remember it being, but I really love the new covers of this edition! I love anime and the artwork has a very anime-like feel to it which I really enjoy!I’d actually forgotten much of what is in the books but it was an enjoyable and quick read! I’m looking forward to revisiting the immortals series and I’m also looking forward to reading tempests and slaughter, the first book B in the numair chronicles :) I’ve always wanted to know Numair’s past as he’s one of my favorite characters from the Immortals quartet, so I’m really looking forward to the moment I can get started with it!I’d like to add that I got the song of the lioness quartet and the immortals quartet for my 12 year old daughter and as she read me bits and pieces of the first two books of Alanna’s series, I found myself really wanting to visit Tortall and read these books again! I’m really glad I have!

Really good stories and an excellent counter narrative to the insipid female characters that were in everything when I was young. The main character exists for herself, not as a set piece in a boy's story, and she is not flat or sterotyped. A full, complex person. She's smart, capable, tough as nails, determined, and very relatable.

I loved this series when I was younger. I’ve read all the tortall books. One of my fav authors hands down even to this day. The box set was awesome and now I got to share it with my 3 daughters. Ages 11-16! They all devoured the series and I need to buy the next set. Love the revamped art and the books survives all the girls reading it and still look great!

These books made me love fantasy stories about badass women. Like a dummy I got rid of the original set I had when I moved, add I was so excited when I found them again—a reprinting so not quite the same nostalgia, but it’s been so much fun reading them again!

I've rated this 5 stars ONLY for the quality of the books (Tamora Pierce is my favorite author and this series was instrumental to inspiring me as a young woman), and the beautiful artwork. I was very excited to catch a good deal on a beautiful box set - but, there was absolutely no care shown in the packaging of this product. The box is very beat up and it just took the wind out of my sails when I was thinking I'd have a beautiful set to share with my family for years to come. It was in a simple shipping envelope when it arrived, no protection or cushion. I don't know if it's a seller issue or, more likely, an Amazon issue but I'm very disappointed....

This series has been close to my heart since I was a young girl, it got me interested in fantasy and reading. So upon seeing this breathtaking new cover, I knew I needed to jump at grabbing it. I am beyond happy with this purchase and how amazing these books read. The text inside is a great size for the kiddos or those who have dyslexia such as myself. I'm only saddened slightly about one of my books corners coming damaged, I assume from placing it within the set box. So make sure you're placing each one in carefully once you get your hands on it. I loved this series when I was growing up and have recommended them so many times to so many people.It's a coming of age series that doesn't shy away from showing what it feels like to grow up a girl in a world where men have the power. It doesn't hammer in this message, but it made me feel seen and understood. Alanna was a girl who inspired me to be brave and unapologetically me. Every tween girl should read this.When my daughter was finally at an age to read them I had already been on the hunt for a collection that I really enjoyed the cover art for. I finally found these after literal years of looking for better covers then the reprints I had seen before. I love them, she loves them, everyone is very happy.It's really wonderful to get to share a passion with your kids.

I love this series and the new art work is great. I love that alanna’s books are now more colorful than the previous sets created. Definitely recommend for teens and up.However be aware this seller does no ship books in a box so there was no protection and the outer box and books inside can arrive in a not perfect. Unless you are a collector this would be fine.
