🍻 Brew like a pro, clarity you can see and taste!
Whirlfloc Tablets are a concentrated blend of Irish Moss and purified carrageenan designed to coagulate haze-producing proteins and beta glucans during the final 5 minutes of the boil. Ideal for homebrewers seeking professional-grade clarity, each tablet treats 10 gallons, with half a tablet recommended for 5-gallon batches. This efficient, easy-to-use additive ensures cleaner beer by settling unwanted sediment before fermentation.

A must for any brewer
╔ ■ Price Point: 5/5 ╠ ■ Quality/Durability: 5/5 ╠ ■ Need: 3.5/5 ╠ ■ Recommendation/Giftable Factor: 5/5 ╠ ☼ Overall: 5/5 ╠ ►Who needs this: Making better / clearer beer ╚ ►The bottom line: The product combines with proteins and causes them to fall to the bottom of the kettle, so that you can leave them behind when you transfer the wort to the fermenter. It makes beer clearer (better than gelatin). Its worth the few dollars as you will use half a tablet per 5 gallon batch. If you want a professional looking beer this is the way to go. Whirlfloc Tablets are an enhanced blend of Irish Moss and purified carrageenan that aids in the coagulation and settling of haze-producing proteins and beta glucans. Use one tablet per 10 gallon batch (For 5 gallon batches, cut a tablet in half. Adding a whole tablet won't really gain you anything), and add it with 5 minutesremaining in the boil. Yes, 5 minutes is correct. According to the manufacturer, if Whirlfloc is in the boil for any longer than 10 minutes, the active ingredients become denatured and therefore will not do their job. Please be aware that some may get damaged in transit.

flocculate trub
I have not done any experimentation whether these work or not. I use a fine mesh basket to hold the hops but still get a lot of sediment. These tablets are supposed to help. But normally I just wait till fermentation stops and let things settle (conical fermentator) and then rack to secondary before transfer to a keg. This gets rid of most of the trub though the first 1/2 second of beer flow from the keg has residue. I don't mind but you can always just pour 1 oz and throw it away if you don't like it.

Works great
I used this for a 5 gallon batch (half a tablet) for a porter. If you can’t “cold crash” due to equipment limitations this helps greatly.

Worth The Money, Easy To Use, & Noticeable Results
Great product for clearing beer, easy to use, and it was even easier to dissolve into my boiling wort (it didn't affect the flavor either). My beer was noticeably clearer with this thrown into the brew. However it is ever more effective if combined with something like Kieselsol and Chitosan (such as Super-Kleer) which you put into your brew one to two days after fermentation is done. ***As a suggestion*** If you get these whirlfloc tablets alone, they will will make the beer look awesome but if you add the other products one to two days before bottling, your beer will noticeably even better. Try these tablets out and if you like what they do, look into buying Super-Kleer (Kieselsol and Chitosan) and see what a power pack combo it is when used with these tablets. If you have questions about my review or the product, just comment on here and I'll do my best to help! Happy brewing.

worked but not as effective as expected
settling out an unusually cloudy beer. note that this a brew i have done several times with the same effect but this time tried the tablets. actually did remove about 80 percent. i then cold settled the beer for a week and it was then a very clear dark amber. before the tablets it would take 2 to 3 weeks to settle. so it definitely sped up the process.

Worked great
I have been home brewing for a few years now but never really was too concerned with the clarity or removing all the sediment from my beer. I have an event coming up that I am providing the drinks and I know a lot of people will not be familiar with drinking home brew so I wanted to create a beer that is clear and as sediment free as possible. Since I didnt have any experience with this kind of product I wasnt too sure how it was going to work or what kind of results I would get. Here are my results: Use 1/2 a tablet for a 5 gallon brew. Dropped it in with about 7 minutes left in the boil and after it finished cooling all the trub had gathered nicely in the bottom of the brew pot which made transferring to the fermenter a breeze! For the average home brewer these may not be for you if you arent worried about the clarity of your beer or sediment in the bottom of your bottles. But if you want to get the clearest beer possible, this is definitely a crucial part of the step. Now these alone will not get your beer completely clear or sediment free, but they will really help.

Clarification helps
One aspect of homebrew that is tough to manage is clarification. I like my beer as clear as possible and these tablets accelerate the settling of fine solids and yeast yielding a clearer beer. I add the pills in the last 5 minutes of the boil. They fizz a bit but dissolve completely and have no taste. Plenty of yeast carries over for carbonation.
