Delft Clay Casting Kit

I got the results I had desired which is why I had chosen Delft over Petrobond but was not so excited about how expensive the Delft Clay is, and since I am a very sceptical person from experience, and didn't have any Petrobond to compare it to I was a bit worried that I had been sent the latter cheaper material in place of authentic Delft which I am still not sure of, however I did achieve the desired results, and the product is reusable for the most part, and enjoyable to work with.Below are pics of the open pour silver ingot, and two wax seal pendants I made using this material.* Note that I have not yet added the air vents in the Elephant mold casts and on the first pendant I had kept the resulting spurs which were the result of the excess metal flowing into the vent groves, and achieving a full cast. I removed and fully sanded away the spurs on the second cast. I strongly recommend large vent holes above the vent groves, and minimum of six vent groves, and much more metal than needed in order to push the molten metal through to fill the mold, and achieve a full cast, as the result of not doing so can be seen in the last photo which shows my initial failed pour.

Amazing kit with everything needed to start, casts come out with excellent quality. Packaging is good the aluminum could have been machined better but works perfect regardless. The sand is AAA+ If you are looking for a similar kit i don't think you could find quality and price better elsewhere.

Good kit to get you started. The form is sturdy and works great. The clay itself works well and there is plenty in the kit for dozens of projects. I gave it 4 instead of 5 stars because:1. The instructions that come with it are a little sparse.2. Even though the form is sturdy and well made and there is plenty of clay, I think the price is s little steep for what you get.If you are getting started watch some U-tube videos and learn a few tricks about how to do this type of casting. It isn't hard, and this kit is what you need besides a torch and crucible. So I do recommend it.

Never used this stuff before, TOTAL noob with it.I have experience with lost wax casting so I figured that I would give this a go!Now, this stuff is AMAZING! Just like lost wax, if there is a finger print or a file mark in the original, it WILL show up in the cast. If you are a noob like me, this is the stuff for DETAIL in your piece. If you just want to do a basic smooth part, get some Petrobond, very similar to this but not as fine of sand.Love the rings this comes with, going to purchase more.Also, get a nylon hammer to fit the rings, well worth the $5-$15 for one.

Performs as advertised. Not for super-detailed casting.But for getting a general shape or ring blank, this is a VERY affordable option.

This kit is amazing. At first when it got here I thought meh... but after getting it all out and using it a few times I would reccomend it to anyone! This was my first experience casting and I loved the directions. I have not watched the DVD yet. Sand was clean. Rings fit nicely.

Seems to me this kit will go a long way for me and it's worth the consideration on your part. I just want a side pour version upgrade someday.
