PlayStation 2 Slim Console PS2 (Renewed)

I have a collection of old ps2 games that I never truly got to play because I had my ps2 stolen a long time ago. But after sifting through my games I decided to buy a new one. I picked one up from here and I couldn’t have been happier. The ps2 functioned perfectly without any issues. Almost like it was brand new.

Was pretty dusty inside the cd area . Would only play some games and the games it would play would often freeze .I've waited a long time and finally decided to get another ps2 and it was a nightmare. The power cord that came with it was a really cheap repop. They are sending a new unit hopefully it will work. I was planning on using it on my vacation but thats out the window now because somehow the replacement will take a week to come. The first one came in 2 day's. Make it make sense please.

I purchased this console as I have been building up my retro/older game library. The sole reason I purchased this (initially) was because I had some PS2 games that were not running on my thick PS2 and I had read that the slim version can run those that are not running on the thicker console. The second I got this out of the box it has been my PS2 go to. It runs flawlessly and so smooth and takes me right back to my earlier years gaming on PS2.

It worked good for the first couple of day. Then this morning it just started turning itself off for no reason. Love that amazon gives a 90 day return window so 1 star. The power supplies are garbage if you can get a oem power brick it works much smoother. and the brick won't fry you optic drive like the cheap ones do.

My console works fine and has been game tested for 4 hours. When I first tested it, the #1 memory port did not see any memory cards after I tried 2 cards. A glance into the port showed 2 connector pins were pushed down below their plastic housing. I carefully bent all the pins back up with a precision screwdriver and cleaned them with alcohol. The memory port began recognizing cards and the cards fit more snugly. If not for that, maybe I'd given my purchase 5 stars. With only 4 hours play on it, I can only verify the PS2 played games as advertised. I haven't tested the controller beyond verifying all buttons have spring to them. (I have 3 controllers.) The power supply and A/V cable both work and will be kept as spares. Delivery was fine and on time.

My system had disk playback issues first day. I figured a replacement would have the same issue. I do not recommend buying used game consoles. Took mine to a local electronic repair store and they fixed it like new. I wouldn't have been in this mess if the developers/publishers would have just released older PS2 titles on any of the curren5 modern consoles. Too many of them are console locked and lost to time. It is very unfortunate there are no PS2 clone emulator consoles like for original Nintendo, SNES, and N64. Hardware and set up issues aplenty with modern TVs. Here's what I have learned: Do not get HDMI converters as they tend to overheat (three different ones did). I would recommend component cables if you have a home theater surround sound system. That will deliver the surround sound for your PS2. Modern video gaming is so very behind the times we have to go thru great lengths for outdated consoles like the PS2...
