Size Name:2-(Pack) This Smith-Cooper International 8140 Series mini ball valve is made of forged brass for higher corrosion resistance than steel and has a plastic-covered lever handle for on/off manual control. It has PTFE (polytetrafluoroethylene) seats and seals for resistance to chemicals, moisture, and high temperatures. This inline valve has a full port flow for higher operating efficiency than standard port and 1/4" female National Pipe Taper (NPT) threads for connecting two male threaded pipe fittings going in the same direction. It is pressure rated to 600 pounds per square inch (psi) for cold working pressure (CWP), 150 psi for saturated steam. This mini ball valve is suitable for use in water, oil and gas applications. Ball valves use a spherical disc to control the flow between pipes, tubes, or hoses. Flow is allowed when the hole that pierces the ball-shaped disc is in line with the inlet and outlet of the valve and is blocked when the ball is horizontally swiveled 90 degrees, so that the hole of the ball is perpendicular to the opening of the valve. Ball valves can be referred to as full port or reduced port (also known as regular or standard port) depending on the inner diameter or the valve. A ball valve is full port if the hole of the ball is the same size as the inner diameter of the connecting pipeline (resulting in lower friction) and termed reduced port if the hole of the valve is one pipe size smaller than the pipe, resulting in less flow through the valve than through the shaft of the pipe. Ball valves may have a handle or lever that aligns with the ball’s position (open or closed) for manual operation. They are primarily used in air, gas, liquid, and steam applications. Smith-Cooper International distributes pipe, fittings, and valves under its SCI trademark and manufactures valves under the Sharpe brand. The company, founded in 1993 and headquartered in Commerce, CA, meets International Organization for Standardization (ISO) standard 9002.

Nice valve for filling 1lb. propane cylinders.
I bought this to help make filling 1lb propane cylinders from a 20lb propane cylinder easier for me. I used this in conjunction with two 1"-20 brass fittings (B000BQM8IU), a propane filter (B000HE8P2O), and a 5' hose (B0009PUQAK). I don't lose the propane from the hose anymore while filling multiple cylinders.

Nice valve, but NOT full port flow
This is a well made 180 degree valve, but it is NOT a full port valve. If that is what you need, look elsewhere.

Worked awesome. Used this ball valve to replace the bleeder valve from under the middle of my 33 gallon/165 PSI compressor tank and moved it to a much more useful position.

Under weight, over rated
Somehow these are same make, brand, style and they are weaker then previous ones. Taking 2 ( one 3 years old, and this one) and placing them on a scale, this identical one is 21% lighter weight and build. rating is likely boosted, don't trust china made valve ratings anymore! Could be dangerous. I myself, see one that says 600 psi, and now realize its only capable of 400.

Much better than expected for the price.
A pretty good valve. I've used them in pressure and vacuum service several times. The handle is comfortable and the action smooth. End stops work. I did notice the brass expand slightly when I tightened down one end, probably far too much with a long spanner and a vice. I am not sure I completely believe 600 PSI rating now, but at 200 or so it seems fine.

Good, small union for 1/4" air fittings.
I've got two air fittings on this and use it to fill my air tank fast. Of course, one end connects to the shop hose and the other end connects to the air tank hose. The valve in between them makes the process deliberate. The set up also makes for a good air gun of sorts for strong blasts of air.

Works well. Doesn't leak. Able to shut off valve in both directions
Used with 6" long pipe and right angle adapter for replacement of air compressor tank drain. Good quality valve. Shuts off without leaking. Valve closes in both directions (lever full left and full right) for ease in placement where clearance issues are present. Purchased 2, one for each compressor and quality is the same. Would purchase again if needed.

look for something else
Like a couple of other brass, items I bought in this order. Very poor threads make it a poor choice. You shouldn't have to use a cleaner tap on a brand new item. Look for a better choice. Michael in oregon
