Communing with the Ancestors
Much is written about relating to the ancestors these days and so there should be - it is one of the great keys and doorways into an embodied and alive practice of spirituality. There are few however who understand the depth and subtlety of work that opens when you step through this door. Caitlin Matthews is one such teacher and in this oracle she gives us a tool which can immediately cause us to start relating to the pool of ancestral wisdom love and power that is available to us if we know how and where to look. The pack is divided into the Common Ancestors and the Deep Ancestors:- the common ancestors represent the pool of collective wisdom beyond our immediate personal line. They are divided into 4 clans, nobles warriors farmers and craftspeople. These are the 4 great divisions of Celtic Society and between them cover the main events and issues of everyday life. The Deep Ancestors are the great matrices the divine intelligences which maintain the worlds. The oracles involve consulting both the Common and Deep ancestors to enable us to understand immediate and far reaching implications of even the simplest question; for each question asked stirs up all layers of the pool of time and ancestral response. Additionally the Wheel of the year is used as a framework which can amplify the context of a questionThe accompanying book is small but very concentrated containing some of the best advice I have ever seen in an oracle pack. In chapter 2 a number of card spreads are given from the immediate and essentialised burning question which just involves 1 Deep Ancestor and 1 common ancestor to the more nuanced three candles spread which uses three common ancestors and 1 deep ancestor; an useful annual reading which uses the wheel of the year to get a sense the year ahead. The most powerful and intriguing spread for me however was the Grandparents spread which gives a way of exploring your relationship to your own family line and their relationship in turn to the pool of common ancestors and deep ancestors. There is a great deal of possibility here for deep ancestral inquiry. The cards are very well produced Wil Kinghan’s artwork is easy on the eye and seems to beckon you into the cards. The cardstock is good and the box is sturdy.Thoroughly and completely recommended!!

A gateway for ancestral connection in these unsettling times
A revamp of these cards has brought me back to them after some years and what a joy they are to use and to reflect upon. Living in Britain presently, one can forget the depth of earth magic and land spirituality that emanates from every hill and vale, wood and river. These cards beautifully crafted with their kind and wise words are a perfect conduit to ancient Celtic wisdom - enjoy!

Powerful set! Publishers take note!
Caitlin Matthews is one of my heroes in Celtic and Esoteric studies, and this set does not disappoint. Highly accessible but not overwhelming, this set is amazing for connecting with Ancestors, and getting answers to practical as well as spiritual questions.Unlike many deck sets, this book actually provides an option for a health reading! As with all of Caitlin's work, this is well written, optimally organized, and combines her brilliant scholarly approach with a powerful energetic experience in beautiful synergy.I only wish publishers would take Caitlin, as well as her husband, John, as seriously as I do, and honor their work with quality production! I have John Matthews' Shaman's Oracle produced by the same company as this, and I adore it, but the card stock doesn't stand up to regular use very well.Someday perhaps publishers will realize that many of us would pay a few dollars more to have something that will last. My first order of this set arrived damaged and I had to return it for a replacement! One small complaint about design:The borders on most of the cards are large and brightly colored, and unnecessary because there is a colored seal on each of them that maintains the color-code and suit.Otherwise, it comes in a nice, hard and sturdy box with a ribbon pull drawer. The book is decent quality of pure content and fits well with the deck inside the box. Looks lovely on the shelf!

. Same deck as Celtic Wisdom Oracle
I was very disappointed to learn after buying this deck that is is the same as her Celtic Wisdom Oracle which I already own. Had this been mentioned in the write up, I woud not have purchased the deck. Actually I like the art work in the Celtic Wisdom Oracle much more than in this deck. It just feels very decieptive.
