Good kindle copy
Good copy, free (what's better than that). Obviously it wasn't the edition we followed in class but I was able to keep up. Translated well. Be sure to inform your teacher or professor that it is a kindle version specifically for works cited and in paragraph quotation purposes. Mla has a kindle citation guideline on their website. Powerful play. Amusing at points. Happy purchase.

1870s Feminist Movement
The cultural and contextual elements of this book are significant due to the time period. During the 1870s in Norway there was a feminist movement taking place which focused on the empowerment and self actualization of women. The play is a piece of breakthrough literature for the time and supported Ibsen's views towards feminism. Based on the time setting this play conveys almost radical ideas and should be highly regarded.

Well - What Can I Say?
This is definitely a play from another day. I liked it from its perspective on the journey of a woman from complete dependence on her husband (despite taking independent steps before the book's beginning to help him) to a freedom from his tyranny. Yes, tyranny. We don't see him that way though. We see him as being quite loving toward his wife, but in this case, we find a woman enslaved to a life she does not want. When she finally discovers this, along with seeing a side of her husband she had always wanted to ignore was there, she is free.Fascinating? Yes. Relevant? Not in 2014.Read it if you want the literary snobbery that goes with having read an Ibsen play. It's reasonably entertaining, too. It's not the kind of literature that will leave you up all night thinking though.

Excellent play
Published in 1879, this 3 act play went against the established code of conduct for people living in the Victorian era. I thought the protagonist Nora was an excellent example of women of this time and full of surprises. The end was likely to raise more than a few eyebrows in the audience. It's to his credit that he didn't bow down to the critics and change the ending in the original play , although he didn't write an alternate ending because Germany refused to allow the play to be performed unless he did.

A Doll's House
Somehow, I never read this when I was in school. It seems the sort of book that teachers make you read. All of the characters in the play are flawed. The way Helmer is so quick to condemn Nora, and then a few minutes later tells her he forgives her. Why would he think she would forgive him for saying so many horrible things? And for so much of the play, Nora seems to delight as being seen as a silly, flighty woman. This makes her speech at the end a little confusing. If she resents being treated that way, why act that way? This was a quick read. I read it all in about one hour. I enjoyed reading it. The play gave me a lot to think about.

I LOVED IT
Many may say that it is boring; however, I loved the play. True it is not filled with as much drama or suspense or action as other books, but it brings in a new thought and perspective about what real happiness and understanding is. I love the somewhat realness of the play and the secrecy with each character. The end of Nora realizing who she was and what she wishes to be is just the happy ending that I enjoyed.
