Sharp knives are important to me as a former food truck owner. Nothing frustrates me more than trying to slice a tomato with a dull knife.The Professional Manual Knife Sharpener by Kitchen Hostess does a great job keeping my knives sharp. There are slots for standard and Asian blades.I do the standard coarse slot 10 strokes and then 10 strokes on the standard fine slot. That sharpens the knife pretty well, but i have found that my knives get razor sharp if I repeat the process with the Asian slots. 10 strokes coarse and then 10 fine. Once razor sharp I just need a few strokes on the Asian slots to keep them sharp.I would recommend this sharpener to anyone who appreciates a truely sharp knife. It also comes with a cut resistant glove which is a nice addition as I have cut myself in the past. The non skid bottom and handle are perfect for safety and comfort.

After reading all the reviews, and searching for knife sharpeners of this type, we decided to purchase this one. It seems sharpens knives well enough for our house knives. I have a stone sharpener for our carving knives, and use this for our daily knives to put a little edge back on them. This sharpener is not for your best carving knives, but will do for your daily knives.

it is not good

A sharp knife is so much safer than a dull one. The blade should east through the skin of a tomato, and never slide off the surface - THAT is dangerous.This sharpener does an excellent job to hone the blade and keep it sharp.The combination of European and Asian blade sharpeners makes it very versatile, and it's super easy to use and safe.*one criticism: It would be good if the sharpener surfaces were a bit farther from the plastic base to help you not touch the base with the blade each time you run it through...** I'm not sure it is as good as doing your honing by hand, but if you are not skilled at honing then this is a good alternative that is pretty precise.And definitely run your knife through the "fine" set 5-6 times after each use...That will keep your knives very sharp, and safer.

My Shun knives are no sharper after using this. Going to take them to Sur la Table where they have an affordable knife-sharpening service.

Gosh there are so many things i love about this Knife Sharpener.-I love how sturdy it is when i sharpen my knives. It doesn't slide around as I'm using-Awesome safety glove. No more little cuts!!-I love the 4 stages so i can really hone in my blades to the perfect sharpness-I tried it on my hunting knives and it works perfect. So much better than the other stone that i was usingI will be definitely be buying more as gifts! I would highly recommend this for anyone wanting a quality, safe, easy to use blade Sharpener.

Does not work well....Knifes do not sharpen in this device.

This knife sharpener is exactly what I was looking for. I have a set of Senzu knives wich lost their sharpeness. This sharpener is amazing. It it easy to use and does a great job. The blades were restored to its original sharpeness in only a few moves. It comes with clear instructions and a safety glove which I think is a great bonus. The knife holder also has a rubber bottom to prevent it from slipping. Great value for money. Will buy some more in the future to give away to my cooking club members.
