What are the spreader settings for a scotts edge guard spreader?

As per Anderson's Customer Service: Low rate - 5; Medium rate - 6; High rate - 7 3/4 (For Scotts Broadcast Spreader with Edgeguard.)

When should I put it down

In the late winter or early spring. Crabgrass and other annual weeds that you are trying to prevent often germinate after several days with soil temperatures (NOT air temperatures) being around 55 degrees. The microbes in the soil are what break down this pre-emergent and since microbes in the soil are fairly dormant in cold weather, that means you can put this down early, well before the soil reaches 55 degrees and the pre-emergent herbicide will still be active when the soil reaches the temperatures where annual weeds start to germinate. This does not kill the seeds, it stops root development as the seeds germinate so the weed/plant does not reach a stage where it will emerge from the soil and grow. Many lawn care professionals put down their pre-emergent herbicides when the soil temperatures are in the 35-45 degree range to prevent weeds. Oddly, I have yet to see anybody state an actual temperature for the soil as a guide to apply pre-emergence herbicides in he fall...? Keep in mind this will prevent plants from growing, so if you are planning on putting down new grass seed or overseeding to thicken growth in your lawn, this will also prevent desirable plants and grass from germinating as well.

Can this be used on Zoysia Grass????

Yes this may be used in established Zoysia.

Does it prevent crabgrass

Yes - this product is very effective in the prevention of crabgrass and other weeds as listed on the product label.

Next season will tell whether it works or not

2021 update: guys, just buy a bottle of Negate for the Poa, it gets rid of it. Problem solved. It also gets rid of broadleaf and a ton of other weeds. I used my spray in Prodiamine this year, and didn't buy the Barricade. Yard looks AMAZING BLAZING!2020 UPDATE: Ugh, I think this year has the worst weeds ever. I did notice we don't have half the Poa Annua we did last year. I think applying it earlier this year will help.Update: Applied another bag in September. So that is the max I can put down. I better not see a weed next season :) .Took one bag in my AgriFab spreader to completely cover my 1/2 acre front lawn, the results are yet to be determined since this is the first time using it, but we'll see! Love how it dissolves so quickly into the soil after one short water, followed by another short watering to get it good and down into the soil! This is part of a program I'm following online. So far Anderson's products are perfect!! This is the beginning process of reclaiming my lawn from weeds and a careless lawn-spraying service. I ended up putting 2 bags down since I think the 1st one was washed away. Next season we should have FAR FEWER WEEDS!

I endorse Anderson products but this one has not worked for me two years in a row now; over the same area. Looking now for next years pre-emergent product.
