I'm in nerdvana!
I have multiple screens in my home office, and it always frustrated me that I could only use 2 with my Mac mini. That was until I saw this adapter in a YouTube video, and it seemed too good to be true. But sure enough, there were many more than the suggested 2 in use. On impulse I made the purchase, and to say I'm happy is not doing my feelings justice. I can now have all 4 screens outputting from my beloved Mac, I can multi task to my hearts content. I am a little worred about getting confused when I next need to share a particular screen but that's nothing to do with this product and everything to do with my squirrel mind. The setup was easy, there's a driver you download from the website, for Mac you decompress and choose your OS version. Install and set up some permissions. Then it just works. There's no lag, I see a full screen on all 4 monitors, and there's no issues I can see at all right now. Very happy with the purchase and to enable me to start to use my full screen potential again, well worth the money.

The best Displaylink Adaptor on the market
Finally, I have a solution to drive my 5120x1440 ultra wide from a non thunderbolt windows laptop. For month I have been struggling (hacking drivers, using custom monitor profiles etc) but in all cases, I’m limited to 3880 x 1080 from a non thunderbolt usb c connector. This item not only drives my ultra wide at native resolution at 60hz (displayport) or 30hz (hdmi) it also drives another monitor at the same time - this actually goes beyond the stated specification of a single 5k ultra wide. It also works with pc or Mac and the cpu impact is minimal - I can drive my ultra wide from a surface pro x with 20% cpu utilisation when dragging windows quickly which is usually a high cpu usage event for displaylink. Using this my thunderbolt 4 dock drives 3 monitors (including the 5k ultra wide), 1gb Ethernet, a 4k webcam and a usb keyboard and mouse from a single usb c, from a surface pro x. It’s not cheap, but we’ll worth it for those with 5k ultra wides and non thunderbolt laptops. *update* it also can drive both my new mateview 4k+ monitors from a surface pro x as well.

Great piece of kit
Top product, few minutes set-up, plug and play and so far so good, working off an old lenovo. Expensive, yes, but the freedom to have a couple of monitors outweighs cost. Worthy and reliable, tech support is there, along with drivers if needed...install drivers first if required, but really easy product that works.

Excellent adapter for the M1 Macs (Requires USBA to USBC adapter)
Works with the new M1 Mac mini and the Displaylink Manager installed. And that’s via a USBC dock. No noticeable performance issues yet. Update, have now used this for video work and so far its been flawless, note the display will come on after login which is when the DisplayLink manager will load and automatically activate the screens, but I am really happy with this setup. Together with my docks cdmi output, I know have 4 screens running well. Its expensive but given the New M1s are limited to just 2 screens natively, this allows for more.

Good for multi-monitor non-video intensive tasks
I use this on an AMD R9-7950X system used for software development, and as such it has no discrete GPU, originally relying on the iGPU for a three-monitor setup, 1 UHD @ 60Hz and 2 WQXGA (2560x1600) @ 75Hz. As the AMD iGPU driver frequently crashes, in an effort to reduce these crashes I switched to using this DisplayLink adaptor for two of the monitors. I should note that if you play 4k60p video on YouTube, you will get a couple of lost frames every second: the device's DisplayLink driver uses a substantial amount of the processor's iGPU to render. 4k30 and 2560x1440@60p seem to work OK without lost frames beyond the first couple of seconds of playback. This may well be down to a limitation of the relatively limited iGPU on the 7950X. You will also notice increased screen tearing when moving windows about on the DisplayLink connected displays. In case it isn't obvious, you won't be able to use this solution for a boot monitor to get into your system's BIOS: you need a directly connected monitor for that. Despite this, I would much rather have a stable system than one that regularly crashes, and so far this seems to be holding up well.

Works on a Macbook M2 pro 2022 (13")
My Macbook is limited to 2 usbc ports, either of which can be used for a single extended display. Plug 2 in and only 1 will display. I downloaded the most up to date DisplayLink software for the Mac, bought this device (as my displays use a display port (not hdmi) and plugged them in. Job done! Super easy, Mac recognized the displays and I can crack on.

Durability
Great product that does what it says. That being said, buyers should be aware that it does have a limited product life. Mine has lasted ~4 years, having been used almost daily. The USB 3.0 cable attached to the adapter eventually becomes "sensitive" and then merely stops working. Shame that the "product support" window is only 2 years.

Excelent for some use cases
This is an excelent product if you want to give a second life to an old laptop that doesn't output 4K at 60Hz through its normal HDMI connections. It could also be used to extend the number of monitor supported by your system, overcoming hardware limitations such as those on the new M1 Macs. Be aware even if you use a discrete GPU or your processor's integrated graphics, this still uses a lot of CPU while encoding the video output, therefore, the refresh rate is not always smooth, especially when your computer is under load (this could be annoying). It's also identified as a screen capture device by both Windows and macOS, what could lead to some problems. In Windows, it only appears after POST/BOOT, but you can use to log into your system. On macOS, it seems like you need to unlock your device before being able to use the external monitors connected through this adapter. It seems like you can't use TouchID when this adapter is connected because macOS thinks the screen is being recorded/shared (this warning could also be annoying since you're not sure if the device is the only thing watching your screen). It might work on Linux, but I wouldn't put much faith on it becacuse on my tests, I had a lot of kernel panics (even with the latest drivers from official manufacturer's website) and sometimes the screen just went blank and wouldn't come back. TL; DR; it could be really helpful, but it's not a magical device, it comes with it's own caveats that you should be aware of.

Bang for the buck
I got a 2015 Macbook Air model that neither has a USB port and wish to extend the display to my dual screen set up. While my work laptop has consumed HDMI ports, I was on the lookout for DP adapters for 4K 60Hz display. After about 6 months of lookout, I am lucky to have my hands on this. USB 3.0 ports cannot transmit 4K @60Hz, this adapter processes the signal so you get what you are looking for. I am reluctant to upgrade my macbook yet and feel my current one has some life left in it yet. Cons: The device gets too hot on prolonged usage - about to 2 hours. Then the media starts to distort a bit, however this isn't a device made for streaming media on your large screen. Other productivity apps work mighty fine.

Works Perfectly
The product was easy to hook up and install on my Windows Laptop. For me, there was no need tp download any drivers, it just recognised the screens and functioned first up without any hassles.
