Disappointed with smell and staining
I bought this as a Christmas present and it sat on our burner through the winter months, regularly refreshed with new water. It looks OK in the same nice matt black as the stove and seems to get hot and gently boil which is fine. It does however always create a bit of a smell when used and has discoloured on the inside. I have not noticed the steam to help the air quality in the room; it's not a big room and still gets very dry air when the fire is on, which is what this is supposed to be for. You can't do anything with the heated water as you couldn't make drinks (it's not for that) but even a hot water bottle would be a bad move given the colour it turns the water.It looks nice and cottagey so gets some marks for that, but is ultimately a bit pointless.

Poor quality Paint has corroded around lid in a few months.
Corroded quite badly and doesn't look pleasing on the eye, not a good purchase.

Not for me.
I bought this for my husband as a Xmas present to go on top of the wood burner and help humidify the room. The description claimed it would simmer away gently, when in fact it boiled so hard it was dry in about 10 minutes and had left a big wet slick up the wall.The seller was markedly unhelpful and did accept it but I had to pay return postage which was quite a lot given it's made or cast iron.

expect rust.
solid good looking cast iron kettle which does a good job as a humidifier. However if you expect this kettle to sit on top of the stove to provide a constant supply of boiling water for making tea/coffee etc, forget it - as rusty water only is produced and indeed rust stains quickly became evident on lip and spout as well as inside the kettle. I did write to the suppliers who provided a prompt and sympathetic reply - but basically saying that rust could be expected of a cast iron kettle!
