perfect
Used to replace my rudder servo on a 20 year old RC boat. Had similar specs to my old one and worked perfectly.

Who can say anything negitive about the HS-55 Hitec servo?
I use a lot of the HS-55 Hitec servo's as well as a bunch of other models and brands. I have had a lot of good luck with these servos, and they are very reliable for me and they are reasonably priced. I don't care much for the HS-81 as I have had to replace the gear train in two of them recently. (they were new)I have never had to do so with the HS-55's. I started RC in 1960 and have used lots of radio's and servos in my time so I recon I can gripe once in awhile huh? Over all, this is a great hobby and the equipment is better than ever, and more reliable then ever before. Hitec is a good outfit over all in my book. Good luck to you all, HALF FLAPS.

Working with a buzz! I know people like this....
This is a light weight replacement for my ailerons and so far it has been performing as advertised (about 8-9 flights at about 10 minutes a piece) and so far the only problem I have had is the constant buzzing coming from the servo. As far as I know I have it set a factory center but it continues to buzz as though it is under a load. It hasn't gotten hot yet or even warm so I'm assuming it is OK but the noise leads me to believe it is receiving I signal from something and may be receiving an input signal from something as well. I am using an AS3X stabilizer receiver so it may be telling it something it shouldn't while the plane is sitting still. Anyway, 3 stars because its doing its job so far and I will update review if I figure out the buzzing noise is not the servos fault! UPDATE as of 21 Jan 2015. I received a comment from another user of this product that said the reason for the buzz is the fact that I am using an analog servo with an AS3X receiver and I should be using a digital servo instead. This should explain the buzzing noise. I am also upgrading rating to 5 stars since I now have an additional 20 flights (all successful) with this servo and no problems. I hope this helps out. If something should go wrong I will update with any info as to why and what happened. Until then, if anyone has any warnings about using analog vs. digital with my particular receiver pleas chime in and let me know!

Very powerful for size.
These Hitec servos are super high quality, which ever model servo you buy. Almost zero play with gear spacing, super accurate centering. So quiet You can barely hear them.

Good product, unnecessarily slow delivery
The servo itself deserves 5 starts, excellent quality, durability and reliability at a fair price.Used to be sold by Horizon Hobby through Amazon. Free delivery and I'd get the servo within 24 hours. Now it's a different vendor, takes days to even ship. Order to delivery is about 10 days. Hence 4 out of 5 stars.

great servo
I got 2 of these to replace the stock traxxas 2080 steering servos on 2 1/16 erevos that I have. There are a couple things that I wish I had known before I bought them...but nothing that is Hitec's fault, just that it wasn't made specifically for the erevo. Problem number one, the stock 2080 has the wires coming out of the TOP of the servo while the 85MG they come out of the BACK of the servo making getting the servo into the hole a challenge, but with a little brute force they slipped right in, actually with a little room to spare.Problem number two, the holes in the steering arms that come with the servo are not even close to big enough for the bolts in the steering system on the truck to go through, and the arms from the traxxas servo do not fit the output shaft on the Hitec. So what I did is heat up one of the steering bolts with a lighter and put it through the hole so that it would be threaded like the traxxas ones. I have run a couple batteries through them now and they have not failed. I hear that you can get a Losi metal arm, but I am cheap so I thought I would try to make it work with what came with it ;-).The servo is noticeablely faster than the stock one and much smoother making the driving much more responsive and controlled.Bottom line...great servo for the same money as the stock one...plush you get to say your car is "modded" ;-)I just wish that they could work out the arm issue.

Reliable
I design and build my own custom radio controlled airplanes. I have used this brand of servos for years of rock solid performance. The only choice for me.

Why are these a different color and not the normal Blue?
Real or fake? Pictures attached for what I received. It did work, has that trademark HS-55 chatter at center and has flown once so far. However it does NOT match the item photos shown in Blue and does not match any other HS-55 servo I have on hand. My old servo arm did fit on this new black servo but I'm not sure its actually real. The servo and the servo arms are both different than my legacy HS-55's so did these change color or are they knock offs?
