Addicted! I canโt sleep without this now
I bought this product in Dec 2022 for my 360 lipo, and bbl post op procedure. After looking at dozens of YouTube videos and trying almost all reasonable methods suggested there, this is the one and only product that made me sleep well and feel very comfortable post op and no fat was compromised from my procedure because even though youโre lying on your back, there wasnโt any real pressure on those areas because of how your body is positioned on the pillows. I only was supposed to use this product for 6 weeks. However, Its now July and Iโm literally addicted to sleeping on it. Yes itโs been just that awesome for me! Also, Iโve always wanted to be a back sleeper because I naturally used to always sleep on my side with my hands tucked under my face and when I awoke each morning, I didnโt like seeing lines of demarcation on my face from my hands being under my face or the bed impressions on my face. Well after having side joint pains, and seeing older people in my family who have slept that way for decades and now the sides of their faces have permanent heavy indents, deep wrinkles and demarcation areas from sleeping like that (especially on the side they sleep on the most), Iโve really been trying like hell to stop myself from sleeping on my sides like that. And this wonderful product has finally resolved that issue for me! And I just feel well rested, my under eyes are no longer swollen when I awake, no lines on my face in the morning when I awake because i no longer sleep on my sides because this product provides good head elevation while youโre resting and its prevents side sleeping. I experience true beauty rest indeed. Furthermore as an avid weight lifter I used to have an aching left hip issue. Seen a sports doctor for it but to no avail. I donโt have that issue anymore because with this product, I no longer sleep on my sides which evidently was the culprit causing my aching joint issues when I thought all along it was the heavy weights I was lifting. When I first started using this, Iโd wake up with numb arms because blood wasnโt circulating properly during the night so I started putting a pillow on each side of my body to prop my arms up so my arms would be elevated with the rest of my body and that quickly resolved the issues. I must warn you though that if you fall in love with this product like I have, itโs gonna be very hard for you to travel and try to sleep in regular beds. I tried that a few weeks ago (because I couldnโt take this huge thing with me on vacation of course) and it was an absolute nightmare trying to now sleep the regular way. Iโm not sure how to resolve this because I definitely donโt want to lug this huge thing around with me on trips. Lastly your partner might also not like you having this in the bed with you because it is huge. I donโt have that problem, but it is something to consider if you have someone sleeping with you nightly.

Good nightโs sleep
This bed! 0h. My. Gosh! I was feeling pretty desperate, unable to sleep upright, unable to sleep laying down. This bed gave me the first good nights sleep in over two months. The cushions are the perfect hardness, enough to give support, but enough give to be comfortable. They said three-piece, but it actually came with a fourth, a little pillow thatโs seen in the picture. When I am needing to sit up, I unzip the top cushion and flip it over and it gives a nice recline thatโs upright enough to watch TV or work on a computer. Full disclosure, it did smell a little โnew carโ, so I did wash the cushion covers, but did not need to dry them, just hung them for a few hours. They are so soft! So easy to take off and put back on again! The covers are really well-made, big sturdy zippers. Based on the quality, I expect to have this for years. A big investment for me, but worth every penny. I went with the smaller (20 inches) because I didnโt want to crowd my husband in our queen size bed. This is the perfect size. At the risk of hyperbole, this product has changed my life!

Zero-gravity relief
I love this! My physical therapist recommended a zero-gravity chair for relief of symptoms and complications from my Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome (EDS), a connective tissue disorder that cause my joints to be unstable and resulting in frequent dislocations. I have a lawn chair that is comfortable for a while, but is not good for a night's sleep. We shopped for a zero-gravity recliner, but I did not wan too invest more than $1,000 for a decent one. A regular recliner does not support my spinal alignment and I will feel worse. I was not sure about paying $125 or more for a wedge pillow system, so I tried the inflatable version for less than $50. I loved it, but it began to inflate after a few months. I decided to upgrade to the foam Backmax. I was unsure if I needed the Backmax Plus, I am 5'9" and it seemed the regular would be large enough, less bulky, lighter weight, take-up a lot less space, and was almost $100 cheaper. I tried it on the bed, but I had it on one side and had to get on the bed from my husband's side - so I could not get in bed after him or get up for the restroom without disturbing him. Because of my joint instability, I need to get on all fours then roll over on the pillow to keep my joints neutral. It was also heavy and bulky to frequently move on and off the bed.I have placed my Backmax on the floor of our living room. I can watch TV or read, even when I am to fatigued or in too much pay to hold up my own posture! I used to hurt so much if I would lie on the sofa. If lying in bed causes me too much pain or I have insomnia, I now have a supportive alternative. I need a separate small pillow to support my neck, one the size of a small throw pillow or a travel pillow works well for me. Pros: Zero-gravity feel Helps me relax when I have muscle spasms Help support my alignment during and after my frequent joint dislocations and subluxations from joint hypermobility due to Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome The only way I can take pressure off dislocated ribs until I can get them to realign Able to position myself to relieve the pressure of constipation or pelvic organ prolapse Assistance with maintaining a neutral position Excellent for a neutral position for sleeping when I go through periods that I would dislocate my shoulder or hip while lying on a regular bed A place to relax when I have insomnia Supports my posture while I read or watch television Relief from heartburn and reflux Cons: I would give it 5 stars, but I am 5'9" and could use an extra inch of width and must separate the two large cushions to accommodate my length. Also, the lower pillow will not stay flush with the top, it sinks over time. Heavy and bulky, consider this if you think you will need to move have a loss of strength or mobility issues. Bulky if you are sharing a Queen-sized bed and I would not bother putting on a full bed if you have a sleep partner. Need to put in the middle of a full or twin bed. People with mobility issues may have difficulty getting onto the system and getting back up. I am 5'9" and really should use the Plus for the length, even the width in the shoulders and I wear a misses medium or large top, but it is $100 more and much bigger. A medium or large size in between the two would be perfect. Although the regular Backmax is not quite long enough for me, It was one of the only ways I have ever been able to completely relax. I did not the the few cons warranted exchanging it for the additional bulk, weight, and cost of the Backmax Plus. I may eventually splurge on the Backmax Plus. If I have additional mobility issues in the future, I may not be able to get down to and up from the Backmax. At that point, I will be saving up for a zero-gravity recliner.

Cannot live without this--it's that good!
This product has helped me & has given me more pain relief for episodes of Fibromyalgia, Lupus, & spinal arthritis than any other at home therapy or OTC medication. I consider this an item I cannot be without. It allows me to lay in a comfortable, supported position that takes the pressure off of sore areas of my body & evenly distributes it so that I feel almost weightless. It's really well made and is very durable. The pieces zipper together & come apart easily so that you can create any configuration. The cover is durable & washable & soft. I also use a regular, fitted twin or full sized sheet to cover this support pillow. It's more than a pillow really--it's definitely long enough to support my entire body. I'm about 5'5" tall. After years of trying all sorts of options to help me sleep, including fancy bed & mattress systems like the Sleep Number beds (which were awful for me actually--tried for years) & every type of imaginable memory foam, gel, pillow topper sleep system, I've finally found something that works! I'm pretty sure I could lay this on the floor & sleep well on it. This is well worth the price! To be able to sleep & to, at times, feel almost no pain--that's a gift for someone with my level of health issues. I am totally grateful that this product exists & it's of such great quality.

Give this a chance
I had neck fusion surgery recently and also have a herniated disc in my back awaiting surgery. I had a medical bed that elevated my torso and legs alleviating a lot of my back/neck pain. After 6 months, my insurance would no longer provide the bed. When I tried t sleep again in a flat bed, the pain was unbearable. I looked for a product that could mimic the medical bed shape and found this product. INITIALLY, I DID NOT think it was going to work. I was using the two pieces zipped together, but I couldn't get comfortable and still had pain. I ended up kicking it off my bed. However, I knew I had to get something to work in order to sleep so I spent about a week messing with it. This is what I found that worked for me. First I unzipped the two main pieces. I placed the top head wedge so the edge is at the very top of my buttocks, and placed a flattish pillow under my head. The bottom leg wedge, I placed the edge at the very bottom curve of my buttocks. This allowed my buttocks to sit flat on the bed. I also found that a pillow on either side gave my arms helpful support. I think unless you are a very short person, you have to unzip the two pieces. I do sleep comfortably and relatively pain free now. They don't slide too much, but if that becomes a problem, the rough side of some velcro tape placed on the bottom should help. I do not think this is for side sleepers. I've had to learn to sleep on my back due to my injuries. I'm glad I gave this more time. It's a better option than having to spend $3000 on an adjustable bed.

Not bad, cover is not actually machine washable. Really wish there was an in-between size.
I bought this in anticipation of my laparoscopic surgery. I debated about getting this one (20") or the wider one (28") and eventually settled on this because of the price and the fact that the other would crowd my spouse on our queen-sized bed - I still wouldn't pick the 28" for these reasons but I really wish there was a size between these two because there is no support for my arms on this narrower size. Other than that, this set was comfortable enough for post-surgery sleeping. I'm short (5'1") and I think it would be a bit more comfortable if I was just a couple of inches taller (the top of the leg wedge pushes against the top of my calves so I woke up with some temporary leg pain). I can also see why taller people have problems fitting with the wedges zipped together because I felt like a near perfect fit. One big issue I had with this set is that they advertise EVERYWHERE about how the cover is machine washable. We washed it once in cool water and carefully dried on no-heat and it was impossible to fit the foam back in properly. Unfortunately it wasn't until then that I noticed that the actual tags on the cover state that it needs to be spot cleaned only. My fault, but I think it is ridiculous that even the paperwork that comes with the set says the cover is machine washable. They have new covers available for purchase, and I'm sure this is why they tell people they are machine washable. I'm certainly not going to sink any more money into this - luckily I don't need it any more because now it is very uncomfortable with the ill-fitting cover.

Better than I hoped!
I have been saying for 2 years that I need to get a recliner because of the nights that I have asthma problems. On those nights I was sleeping propped up on piles of pillows or on the couch sitting up... So I wasn't really sleeping well, and if I did sleep I woke up with back and neck and shoulder problems. But I kept putting off the expense of buying recliner and having it delivered and also figuring out where in the house I was going to put it. I bought this product to use in the reclining position to basically create a recliner in my bed. I was afraid that I was throwing money away. Luckily, I was wrong. I find it pretty comfortable and it is supportive. I don't get the feeling that it's going to fall apart or collapse into uselessness. I've been using it for about 2 weeks even though my breathing has been fine, just to see how it works and how it holds up. My lower back hurt after just an hour or two the first time but then I used the small half moon pillow that they provide in the small of my back as lumbar support it has been perfect. It wasn't comfortable as a pillow anyway for me. I still found, rather like sleeping on a plane that my head was likely to fall to one side or another and wake me up, so I added an airplane neck pillow when I sleep on this. My only other complaint is that like many memory foam products it does sleep a bit hot. Wish they had used gel-infused foam or something like that. It's not horrific, I don't wake up sweaty like I have done with some other memory foam products, but it's a bit warm. I found that if I cover it with a thin quilt it is just fine. So for me, using one of those u-shaped airplane neck pillows, using the provided pillow as lumbar support, putting a thin quilt over the cushion have made this comfortable and useful for sleeping with my torso partially elevated. I'm going to put it away now and go back to sleeping without it until I need it.

Comfortable but short
It's nice and comfortable. The reason for not giving it the 5 stars is because It's a little bit too short. I'm 5'9 and my ankles float out of the pillow where feet are supposed to rest. Still comfortable enough not to return.
