Accurate & Reliable Copper Testing
I’ve been using the Salifert COPT Copper Test Kit in my saltwater reef tank for the past 6–8 weeks and it’s quickly become one of my go-to water test tools. This kit does exactly what it promises — it helps me detect even low levels of dissolved copper in my water, which is critical for keeping sensitive corals and invertebrates healthy. Amazon Canada The test is pretty straightforward to use and the color changes are crisp and easy to read, so there’s minimal guesswork involved. I like that it’s suitable for both reef and freshwater setups, giving me flexibility if I ever expand or change tanks. Pros: Great sensitivity for low copper levels — useful for reef tank maintenance Easy to follow color comparison scale Compact kit that doesn’t take much shelf space Cons: Takes a little practice to interpret the color correctly the first few times Bottom line: If you’re serious about monitoring copper levels in your aquarium water, this Salifert test kit is worth the investment — accurate, dependable, and user-friendly. I’d recommend it to any aquarist who wants better control over water chemistry.

Would go a different route
Did not work when using copper to treat a fish. Definitely do not recommend this brand for that use

Better than the SeaChem Copper Test
I’m using Cupramine and the SeaChem test results are showing twice the amount of copper than is actually there. If you know anything about treating with copper, you know there’s reason for alarm when the results are twice what they should be. I searched the forums and noticed that a lot of people already use the Salifert kit. It’s not spectacular but it’s far more accurate than the SeaChem kit. When I test this kit for accuracy, the results make sense but they didn’t even when I used SeaChem’s test water with SeaChem’s kit.

No copper in my aquarium
Tested my aquarium water to confirm there is no copper in my saltwater aquarium. Great for peace of mind.

Frustrating wait time
The test is accurate, after the first use the clear container gets died by the testing materials making the subsequent tests less accurate in my opinion. The 30 minute wait time to get a result is nerve wracking when you are worried about copper levels

Visible Results
I had an Ich problem during quarantine and ordered this right away to monitor the copper levels. I received this in a couple of days and it arrived on time. Easy to follow directions and easy to read results. Fortunately all the fish in quarantine made it! Must have for quarantining.

Water did not turn blue ever
I had a bad case of velvet in my tank and bought this kit to test the copper levels after medicating my tank. I’ve put the correct amount of copper in my tank and have tested it multiple times and the water has not turned even slightly blue, even after waiting well after 20 minutes. I am afraid to dose my tank more based on these results, but I want to make sure I am using the correct amount to heal my fish. I even made a solution of 1/2 water and 1/2 copper sulfate. Even then, my test did not turn blue. A complete waste of money and I would probably kill my whole tank if I medicated based on this test.

Worked perfectly as intended
Works well especially for low readings. Important to hold vial to paper like instructions state. I made the mistake of looking at vial from top to bottom at first.
