Japanese animated feature from Studio Ghibli, directed by Hayao Miyazaki. When their mother is taken ill, two young girls move to the country with their father to spend more time with her while she recuperates. As they explore their surroundings, young Mei (voice of Chika Sakamoto) starts to believe that the nearby forest is inhabited by magical creatures. At first her sister Satsuki (Noriko Hidaka) refuses to believe her, but before long the two girls are having magical adventures with the Totoros, the magical protectors of the forest.

Beautiful
I bought this for my younger sister to introduce her to one of Ghibli's classics. And a classic it is. Beautiful movie and the steelbook is very sleek, well worth paying a little extra.

overpriced
An amazing anime film, but this steelbook edition doesn't give anything extra. If you're considering purchasing this, please be aware that this has exactly the same content as the Blu-Ray & DVD set available for £14.90, the only reason to buy the steelbook was really just to have a nice looking case. And for the original store price of £21.99, i guess that's not too crazy if you're a fan. However, since the only people selling this now are greedy sellers who only bought this to sell later, and are now selling for over £44 - you really have to be out of your mind to want to pay that much.

Two Stars
Tin looks nice, but no Japanese. It's dubbed. Not happy.

Where's the rest of it?
The media could not be loaded. It pains me to give it an average rating, but the fact that I wanted more of it proves that I was enjoying what we got before it came to an abrupt end. I was certain that I had accidentally hit the chapter skip button on my remote, but nope, I did indeed watch the whole movie.It's summer 1955 and very cute and curious 4-year-old Mei and her sister Satsuki move out into the country with their dad while their mother is in hospital. The creaky, dusty old house that they move into appears to be hot spot for forest spirits and magical creatures. As with all Hayao Miyazaki movies there is a heavy theme of nature being beautiful and the Earth being precious but where is the story?Mei soon meets "Totoro" a giant cat/rabbit thing, who does...pretty much nothing. Totoro is barely IN the movie. I've seen pictures of him for years, I even carry around a Totoro satchel at work. I assumed that the movie would be filled with their wondrous discoveries, summertime adventures, and, y'know, some kind of PLOT! But nope. He's barely in it. Seriously, where is the rest of this film? I assume all those pictures I saw were merely fan art and not stills from the actual film.At one point Mei runs off to find her mother but gets lost on her way to the hospital. Satsuki enlists Totoro to help her and he summons the Catbus to locate Mei and take them both to the hospital and the film ends there. That's it! My jaw was on the floor when the credits began to roll, and not in a good way.The animation is simply beautiful and is the perfect antidote to the ostentatious horror of modern CGI animated movies, the kids are cute, and Totoro (all 2 minutes he has on screen) is one of the most huggable characters ever created, but I am sorry I have to rate this on the lower rung of Miyazaki movies. There should have been more to this.The Blu-ray looks gorgeous in 1.85:1 1080p and pretty good DTS HD-MA sound with a lot of good extras.

return??
Although the case is stunning (agree with the other reviews) i was disappointed when this did not come in plastic wrapping like the other 3 that i purchased and also had light scratching on the case, I'm guessing amazon has sent me a second despite it saying its new.

very metallic look
Only a simple statement: The look of the steelbook is very metallic and so the pictures are not so brilliant as shown in the item description on amazon (here the fore- and background seems to be white and so the pictures are very colorful).I have all 4 steelbooks, so i'm a little disappointed.

High Quality
The printing on the case is good quality (the background is silver rather than white as it appears in the picture), and the inside image is vibrant. There is no text anywhere on the case so it comes with an insert which has the description and details on it.To clarify, the special features are included and the language options are the same for both discs:- English- Japanese with English subtitles.
