Akona Bug Hunter Dive Gloves

I bought these gloves for lobstering and they work perfectly. They are constructed of high-quality materials and they are secure when fastened. Wearing them while snorkeling allows me to touch anything I want underwater without worrying about rashes, barbs, burns, scrapes, and stings from the assorted wildlife that I see out there.

I purchased 2 pairs of these for a dive trip and had to return them right away. The palms were so rigid my husband and I could barely bend our fingers and I had to send them right back.For lobster diving you want gloves with a decent pad on the palms, but these where too stiff for our liking.

Well made product but way too stiff to last all day. I couldn't make a full fist in these. I returned them.

The gloves were incredibly stiff and inflexible. Thinking they might loosen up in the water, I took them out on the opening night of lobster season. The gloves never softened up, and were very uncomfortable. The Velcro wrist strap continually came undone and let cold water in. I attributed several lost lobster to the lack of flexibility and feeling in the gloves. I replaced them with a pair of cheap gloves from my local dive shop and have been much more satisfied. I have been impressed with Akona's other products (dive bags and booties), however, I would not recommend these gloves.

These are not the Akona quality gloves I have had in the past. I caught about a dozen bugs with these then ripped the thumb off putting on a pair of free-dive fins. I don’t recommend these to anyone. Just a few weeks after my return option...I will be writing Akona about this.

I was initially concerned about the stiffness of the glove when I purchased, but will say that they loosened up after a day or two in the water. What the bad review is due to is the protective Teflon grip that was nearly gone by day 3 and completely gone by day 6.
