Nice quality.
Nice hole punch, it looks well made and substantial. I use it on tan dyed leather that is between 2.5mm to 2.8mm thick and it goes through that very easily, on odd occasions I need to punch a hole through two layers of tan dyed leather which can be just under 6mm thick and it glides through it with no problem. The punch uses cantilever action which makes it very easy to use. The individual punches are very sharp which helps it cut the hole without much effort and leaves a clean hole. There is one point I have noticed, is the jaws only open 7mm wide, which is the distance between the anvil part and the hole punch tip, so take this in mind if you need to maneuver the punch past other obstacles on your work to get to the position where you need to make the hole.

Excellent little punch
Excellent quality punch. I use these a lot for my bag making and have gone through many different, inferior punches and this is the best I've had to date. I usually find that the handles bend a little with every use resulting in very little punching power, rendering them useless. This punch however feels very sturdy and punches cleanly and effortlessly every time.My only dislike about any/all punches is that the neck is always to small. There's never enough space to allow the user to make a hole further into the fabric. They are all fine for narrow projects like belts and straps and so on but, if I'm almost at the end of a bag project and would like to add a rivet further away from the edge of the fabric, I generally have to maul the bag with an awl as the punch cannot reach.

Glad I chose this one.
The hole punch is very easy to use. The mechanism means that you don't need strong hands, even for very thick leather. The wheel is stiff to turn, but that's a good thing, as it keeps the chosen size punch in place as you depress the handle. I like the fact that it came with two spare anvils, and the awl has also proved useful. For the cost, it seems a very professional bit of kit.

Makes a Neat Hole
This Leather Hole Punch makes a really neat hole. It is easy to use, robust, and has a quality feel about it. The inclusion of a ruler to measure the space between holes and an awl to enable you to clear the waste leather from the cutting hole barrels is a nice touch by the seller. It would be good if the cutting hole sizes were already marked on the tool as fitting the stickers to mark the sizes is a bit fiddly, but this is a minor point, as it is not essential to do so. Very happy with the Skilled Crafter Leather Hole Punch.

High quality item that did the job
My son needed something to punch a tidy, accurately-sized hole in his army cadets beret, and this hole punch was exactly right for the job. Since it turned up, though, we've found other uses for it. It's a very sturdy, solidly-made piece of kit - easy to use, and clearly built to last. I would recommend this hole punch for anyone who needs to punch a hole but doesn't want to waste money on something that is going to break right away.

Perfect in build quality and functionality
Have used other 'cheaper' hole punch for leatherwork and struggled to get clean hole, especially in leather over 1mm. Bought this tool and immediately noticed the difference. Punch feels sturdy and well made and makes perfect holes in leather (2 to 3mm). There is no effort required as the tool does the work for you.I would thoroughly recommend to anyone needing to punch holes, don't waste money on cheap alternatives.

Not a precision tool
Although fairly well made the punches do not meet the plate square on, so do not punch cleanly and all the way through the leather. It is useable but is not a high quality precision tool.

How to make the hole
Have now used it on four belts that had been lying around unused in my wardrobe so will share my experience in using this tool. I found that most belts (male at least) have the holes every 2 cms and are usually 3.5 to 4 mm in size. I learnt with trial and error that the hole in the belt looks better if it is punched from outside in rather than the other way. However it is difficult and not desirable to mark the spot on the outside. So I marked the spot on the inside of the belt with the help of the ruler and a fine marker pen, used the awl to make a small starting hole, then used the 2 mm punch to create a hole from inside out, then turned the belt around and used a 3.5 mm punch to create the desired punch hole through the previously created 2 mm hole. This way had a really good hole which did not spoil the look of the belt on the outside. It can be a bit of a pain to clean the punches but I accidentally found that the black rubber ring in the middle can come out and one can then push the debris through from the various punches thus making the cleaning easier.Hope this helps!!
