No more broken bird feeders

My intial reaction on seeing this was that it's a bit flimsy, but for the price I guess it's okay, provided it keeps the squirrels out. It has done so far, although one blighter has just managed to force it's nose far enough in to just get a morsel. Will that be the encouragement they need to keep making a nuisance of themselves? Only time will tell. I might add, they are now trying to bite through the cage and I think given enough time they might just manage it.I bought the fat ball feeder from the same supplier and it does indeed seem to be impregnable so far.Well, about a week in and the squirrels have managed to gnaw away the plastic perches that the birds stand on to feed, rendering the feeder virtually useless. That's where the 'cheapness' shows up. More expensive feeders that I have have metal perches.

Just what I was looking for, I needed this type of squirrel proof bird seed feeder because I needed to alter it to replace the seed tube with a tiny flower pot saucer into which I place live mealworms for my favoutite small birds. I also have to buy and fix on top a clear plastic bell shaped closh from a garden centre to keep rain off the mealworms, water kills them quickly.This all works very well, loooking at many other types of cage they cannot be altrered, I am so pleased, so are the Robins in particular.Many thanks to the suppliers of this brand of cage and to Amazon for prompt delivery,Paul Claridge.

Picture shows a squirrel who popped the lid within an hour of it first going out.He has his head down the tube full of seeds filling his belly!Went out and made sure the lid was properly secured. 5 minutes later he was back happily stuffing his face!Have secured the lid using small twists of wire and so far he is frustrated!Build quality seems OK.Will update my star rating if he finds another way in!Had to downgrade from 4 to 3 stars.Second picture shows squirrel has found he can poke his head far enough through the bars to get his head in the hole for birds to eat from. A bit of shaking and he gets a mouthful of seeds.So not actually squirrel proof!Still not entirely unsatisfied with the feeder though as it slows him down enough that the birds get to eat more seed than he does.(just) and his antics are entertaining!

Does what it says, keeps the squirrels off.

I bought 2 of these supposedly squirrel proof bird feeders, and if that's what you need look elsewhere. They are not squirrel proof and were beaten by what I'd suggest aren't hyper intelligent mutant animals, but common and garden greys who had a field day at my expense. Within 24hrs, the squirrels could easily reach the seed openings and gnaw away enough of the plastic to allow the seed to flow freely. They're now in the bin and Im searching amazon once again...

The product works ok...ish.However there are two design flaws.1. The horizontal bars are too far apart, so some bigger birds like jackdaws can get to the seeds. You can solve this problem somewhat by fitting two thick wires horizontally around the frame between the existing horizontal bars, therby making the gaps smaller. But don't put a wire around between the lower horizontal bar and the base or none of the birds will be able to get to the seeds.2. The transparent plastic tube which forms the body of the feeder sits inside a raised rim of the metal base, which means water rain will run down the side and INTO the base. The plastic tube should have been designed to fit outside the raised rim so rain runs off. It just means seeds get damp at base and I expect base will rust faster.Otherwise, with fix No. 1 done the feeder does its job and I am really quite pleased.

J'avais déjà; depuis plus d'un an; deux mangeoires sur le balcon, l'une avec du tournesol, l'autre du blé.Je nourrissais les petits oiseaux (mesanges, chardonnerets , moineaux) et deux couples de tourterelles mais depuis quelques temps des pigeons sont venus s'inscruster.Leur presence a mis le bazard... les pigeons se gavaient de tournesol.De peur de ne plus en avoir, les tourterelles aussi. Alors qu'elles mangeait autant de tournesol que de blé.Ils ne laissaient rien aux petits.J'ai donc acheté cet article pour nourrir les petits oiseaux de jardin (mesanges, chardonnerets , moineaux) sans que les plus gros (pigeons principalement) puissent y accéder.J'ai eu peur en découvrant le produit car bien que les dimensions soit indiqués, les photos laisse penser que le grillage est large. Alors qu'il est en realité plutot petit et j'avais la crainte que meme les petits oiseaux ne puissent y acceder.Je l'ai installé en me disant on verra bien (et si necessaire je le modiferai).Et bonne surprise, les mesanges, chardoneret et moineaux n'ont pas de probleme pour se nourrir.Ils ne rentrent pas dans la cage mais se posent sur le grillage et parviennent a prendre des graines.Et surtout les pigeons et tourterelles n'y accedent pas.Du coup j'ai cette mangeoire pour les petits oiseaux rempli de tournesol.Et une autre mangeoire plus classique (petite cabane en bois) avec du blé pour les autres.Pigeons et tourterelles sont bien obligés de manger le blé maintenant.J'ai retiré une etoile parce que l'article meriterait d'être un tout petit peu plus gros.Je vais regarder si il existe d'autre modele plus grand et gros.Mais pour le prix (entre 8 et 10 euros) c'est correct.

...das kommt auf die Eichhörnchen an. Die, die bei uns herumlaufen kommen trotz Gitter an das Futter heran, aber für uns kein Problem - sollen sie nur. Tauben und große Vögel kommen auf jeden Fall nicht an das Futter, hatten sie doch vorher immer die Futterspender ratz fatz leer gefressen.Die Qualität der Futterstation ist gut, man darf für den Preis keinen Edelstahl erwarten, aber die Ausführung ist gut und stabil. Den ersten Sturm hat der Futterspender bereits heil überstanden und das Futter wird auch beim Starkregen nicht nass.

Ich habe mich für dieses Produkt entschieden, da ich ein Problem mit Waschbären habe, welche das Vogelfutter aus anderen Vogelhausern jede Nacht Klauen. Hier ist seit bereits 2 Wochen dieses noch nicht passiert. Die Vögel Nutzen diese Futterstation sehr gern und kommen damit zurecht.Nachfüllen geht ebenfalls schnell und einfach. Die Verarbeitung ist stabil und ohne scharfen Kanten. Ich habe die Station mit einem Kabelbinder gesichert, da der Waschbär es bereits komplett mitnehmen wollte. Eine Klare Kaufempfehlung von mir

Ich bin sehr zufrieden. Ich wollte nicht, dass die großen Vogel die kleinen komplett vertreiben. Mit der Futterstation, haben die kleinen ihren Spaß und die großen finden genug auf dem Boden, bzw gebe ich einfach noch was auf den Boden dazu und so sind alle Vögel im Garten glücklich

Für das Geld einfach ein TOP Preis-/Leistungsverhältnis. Saubere Verarbeitung, die obere Klammer schließt die Klappe fest. Kein Geklapper oder sonstiger Schrott. Einzig der Gitterabstand ist etwas zu groß, so dass dort immer noch Stare ihren Kopf durchstecken können und mit den langen Schnäbeln etwas Futter durch die Öffnungen picken können. Aber irgendwas ist ja immer.... klare Kaufempfehlung.
