incredibly charming
This movie proves you're never too old to talk to your stuffed animals, and if you do, it might just lead to an adventure rather than a trip to the therapist! Winnie the Pooh's wisdom is so profound yet delivered with the innocence of a child (or, well, a bear). Pooh's take on life's problems is like having a Zen master who's slightly obsessed with honey. He drops lines that are so deep, you'll find yourself pondering the meaning of life. The film's humor is as gentle and warming. It has a way of making adults chuckle at the absurdity of their complex lives through the simple, yet insightful observations of stuffed animals. "Christopher Robin" also gives us a glimpse into what might happen if your childhood toys showed up unannounced. Spoiler: It involves a lot of explaining to do with your family and possibly your boss. Imagine trying to put "Went on an adventure with my childhood stuffed bear" as a reason for your leave of absence! In essence, this movie is a heartwarming reminder that sometimes, the most important things in life aren't things at all. It's about reconnecting with the joys of your childhood and realizing that it's okay to not have everything figured out. After all, in the wise words of Pooh, "Doing nothing often leads to the very best something." And this movie is definitely a delightful "something" that will leave you smiling, pondering, and maybe, just maybe, checking in on your old stuffed friends.

It's not what you expect, but it's what you need!
If you or your children grew up with Winnie the Pooh, you need this movie. You NEED it. Jim Cummings is a wonderful Tigger and Pooh, as always. Ewan McGregor is a PERFECT Christopher Robin, grown to an adult husband and father. The story begins with glimpses of Christopher Robins life; the important moments. When he says goodbye to Pooh and goes off to boarding school. When he returns home because his father has passed. When he meets his future wife, Evelyn (Hayley Atwell), when he goes off to war, leaving Evelyn to deliver baby Madeline (Bronte Carmichael and Elsa Minell Solak as 3 year old Madeline) alone. The story picks up some time after Christopher Robin's return home. He is going through some stressful times at work, and Madeline is now at the age where Christopher was when he went off to boarding school, and faces the same.I'll try not to spoil the story too much....Ewan McGregor is absolutely PERFECT when he has to play an adult Christopher Robin who's suddenly seeing his childhood friends walking and talking as if that's perfectly normal. He goes to the Hundred Acre Wood to help Pooh, loses him, and the rest of his friends take him for a heffalump. His journey of self makes him realize that perhaps they were right. He had a great battle, and with much help from Eeyore (Brad Garrett; who is so perfect) the Heffalump is defeated. As Christopher rushes back to work, something is left behind. The gang meet Madeline, who decides they need to return it before The Meeting. An Expotition is begun.

Adorable!!
My 21 year old daughter invited me to view this with her. I was too busy! Then I smashed my little toe and had to sit down and relax. Of course I had Christopher Robin books, movies and stuffies around my house when she was little and we both have our favorite characters. I made her favorite yummy food and we kidnapped her younger siblings smarties to nibble on. I thanked God that she loves me enough to invite me to share this movie. It was adorable from the get go and nutty at the end. I told her all of the fans of the stories as adults are probably eating up the wonder of going back to that time of innocent imagination and actually having your imagination come to life. This is a story of a little boy now all grown who has a very important job. He now has a wife and daughter but little time to actually spend time with them and enjoy them. So Poo comes to him and the adventure broadens. If anyone is even thinking twice about sitting down and watching this movie because they might think " I have seen it all before", please know, you have not! This move has a lot to offer in the way of taking one on a journey of fun and silliness, that most of us need in this world dying for fun and innocent adventures. I always encourage my kids to never lose that child like joy.I advise and encourage any grown up who loved these characters when they were much younger to grab your grown child, a yummy snack and set aside the grown up world and just enjoy the romp. Enjoy! :)
