I'm going to assume that this item lasts as long as it looks, and feels, as if it will. Both the bellpush (transmitter) and chime (receiver) feel solid and well made. If buyers are happy with the simple (factory setting) chime, then the item works 'out of the box'. The many optional chimes are accessed (auditioned) by simply pushing a button on the side of the chime (which must be plugged in to do this ...... the chime is, after all, mains operated). As soon as you've settled on the sound you want then, (within five seconds) press and hold the 'push' (for about five seconds - there's and audible cue) and you're good to go with your chosen chime. Some are brief, others longer (often extracts from well known tunes).We are blessed with a long garden and, as a consequence, have too often missed callers because we didn't know they'd rung the bell. We had thought we'd overcome the problem a few months ago when we bought a two 'receiver' set up manufactured by another very well-known name ..... but the distance over which the transmission was effective turned out to be at the very bottom end of the claimed range.This one, however, works well (over a considerably longer distance than the earlier brand in which we'd invested hope and money - (we have it plugged into a socket in our greenhouse'We've now confidently ordered a third, battery-operated, chime - pretty confident that our days of missing callers are over!On another matter; I needed a little support from the company: I emailed my enquiry and had a rapid email reply, followed by a phone call and the matter was speedily resolved.How good is that?We bought 'off-the shelf-, which is a black set-up - I now think it might come in a range of colours.At this stage I am more than delighted with the effectiveness of this piece of kit - and the prompt, friendly and helpful response of the company.

Excellent service, ordered mid afternoon arrived next morning.Nice build quality, looks neat (I ordered the black version) does not impede the use of the second socket of a 2 gang switched socket, it hangs down a little beneath the socket but does not project above it.Easy to set up and pair the second transmitter with both receivers to use a different bell tone to distinguish between front and side doors.Adjustable volume control is very useful, the loudest setting is very loud.There are several ring tone options that are variations on basic bells if your not into cheesy melodies.Would have got 5 stars if you didn't have to unscrew the minute screws holding the circuit board inside the bell push to change the battery. I first purchased a Sado door bell and two plug-in receivers a year or two ago. I was very impressed with both reliability and sound quality and duration of the ring. You can control the level of the sound and being a bit deaf I turned mine up to maximum-which makes all visitors to my home jump! Because I have now need of an upstairs extention and an invalid to care for I decided to extend with two further receivers and a doorbell tranmitter for the invalid - they can all (both new and original) be set up to work together or individually with different ring tones which is really very flexible and the range is great in a large house. I looped the second doorbell transmitter around the invalid's neck and he can 'light the house up' with his individual sound when he needs me, and of course he can hear the bells too. Absolutely great as is the Sado customer service.

In terms of quality, this doorbell system seems well constructed. However, I have had a few issues.One of the transmitters kept "misfiring" and ringing the doorbell randomly. I found out that it was short circuiting inside the bell push (the connections were striking the head of the screw used to fix it to the door) so I had to improvise. A little strip of electrical tape saved that problem.Then, when I tried to sync both of the transmitters, one of them just refused to work. I contacted the supplier (who were really helpful, I have to say) and followed their instructions, but it still wouldn't work. After some thought, I decided to move both of the receiver units and plugged them in side-by-side closer to the transmitter that wouldn't set off the bell. Low and behold, I managed to get the problem fixed. But as soon as I moved the receivers back to where I wanted them to be, it failed again. I live in a modern built bungalow and where I wanted to plug-in the receivers was barely 20 FEET away from the transmitter, through one wall. So the claimed operating distance for this system seems a bot optimistic. However, I've plugged in one of the units closer to the transmitter so problem now resolved. Just a pity it's not where it was supposed to be!If you can put up with the fiddling around required to get this working properly AND you are sure you can plug in the receivers within range of the transmitters, this system is a good buy.

This doorbell kit is amazingly simple to set up straight from the box (thankfully!). Obviously my neighbours 4 year old would have sorted it in about 30 seconds....me being an "oldie" I took some time and actually read the instructions Heh-Heh there's no flies on me!! The unit has four volume settings (I settled on the loudest) and 52 various sounds, some are quieter than others (I settled on the good old fashioned Ding Dong!) this one always wakes me up? Seriously though its a great bit of kit, one for the back door, and one for the front door, different ring tones for each should you wish? I use the second ringer out in my workshop in the garden approximately 90' long with no problems! There is an option to expand the system, ie as in a shop entrance door ringer etc, I would thouroughly reccomend this kit as value for money! Please be assured I have no conection with the company, and this review is my own personal opinion of its performance.
