Great Little Fryer from Amazon!
I used this fryer for the first time for French fries. Followed the instructions about adhering to the fill line for oil (we used Mazola), cut up enough fries to half fill the basket as instructed (which was plenty for two people), waited for the oil to heat to max temp of 375 degrees (even so I always stick a fry in the oil when I think it's about hot enough and if it sizzles like it's supposed to, then I put the basket in the oil). The oil did not "cool down" like a couple of the other reviewers stated after placing the basket in the hot oil. It sizzled just like the restaurants do when a basket is dropped in hot oil and the fries were ready in about half the time of my old deep fryer (that has no lid) about in 12 - 14 minutes. Make sure to drain the fries when done and put in a shallow dish with paper towel to soak up any excess oil - salt to taste. I like the large viewing window but really, because the fries were under the sizzling oil, I couldn't tell their brownness without lifting the lid and raising the basket out of the oil a bit to see the fries. I would suggest due to the high performance of the "spring action" on the lid, when releasing the lid button, ensure you have a finger over the lid to slow its snap up, preventing it from snapping back too fast and possibly causing breakage at some point at the base connection (the housing is all plastic after all). Over all, I would give this fryer 5 points. Great performance - the fries were perfect - easy clean up and storage. You can't expect more than that.

Great quality, safe, and sturdy! LOVE it!
Deep frying might not be the healthiest thing, but boy, if done right, it is soooo good! I usually cook fried parsley tacos - which by the way sounds weird but tastes fantastically. The issue with Parsley is that it holds a lot of water, and when fried, due to that it makes a hot oil mess. I need a safe fryer that allows me to close the lid and then lower the frying tray. That's the only way in which it protects me from burns and avoids a mess. The fryer must also have a good steam release system to avoid another bad experience and even bad burns. Finally, you need to make sure the temperature is always right, since it's just a matter of a few seconds at the right temperature for the perfect frying level. If the oil is colder, your parsley might take longer or be undercooked and chewy. If the oil is hotter, your parsley will turn brown and bitter. This fryer has it all for me - a good steam release system, the ability to lower the pan once the lid is shut, a temperature dial, and a temperature indicator. It is the perfect fryer for me. It is easy to clean, as the oil container can be detached and cleaned / washed outside. The cable is magnetic, so it allows for a safer operation as well. The quality of this fryer is great, it looks good, and it is easy to use. Love it!

Fry away!!!!!!!!!!
This is my 2nd of the SAME fryer. My husband made me return my first one to get a double fryer but I only use that one for parties. I wanted a smaller fryer since I don't eat that much fried food but its nice to fry things here or there for my kids. So I bought it back! I love & use this way more than my double fryer. Pros: 1. easy to operate. turn to the temperature you want and the light will go off when it reaches the desired temp. 2. easy to clean up 3. I love the handle, just push and drop down. you don't even need to open the lid to drain the food. 4. filter works great 5. Handy little chart to tell you what temperature to set at. But I fry at lower temperatures so my food doesn't burn. 6. It uses 1/3 less oil than my double fryer! Cons: 1. size if you want to fry up a storm. Go buy a double fryer if you want to fry that much. 2. the basket material is thin and flimsy. 3. If you fill the oil to the max line, the basket actually touches to oil so it won't drain your food properly. 4. Cord is a little short. 5. It does stem up quite a bit 5. The lid flaps open hard if you just press the button. You will need to have the other hand on top to prevent that. I am not sure why some reviewers says the temperature isn't hot enough. I fried perfect Tempuras, Katsu chicken, Chicken drumsticks all at 340. At 375 I actually burned some chicken drummies w/o cooking it all the way through. Overall it's my perfect little fryer!

The best home fryer I could have asked for. Almost perfect.
This is my third home fryer and this is fryer is not only the best but also almost perfect. This fryer is so sets itself apart in so many ways. First, it has an off switch (in the form of temperature dial that goes down to "off"). Then it has a large container for frying. It has an open button. It is easy to clean, and it fries FAST. This fryer is also large and relatively (not absolutely) robust for a $50-$60 product. Pros: 1)It has an off switch (most fryers are missing this feature). 2)It has an open lid button (most fryers are missing this feature), which also keeps the lid closed under "lock". The lid allows moisture to escape even when closed. 3)It has a LARGE container for frying. 4)It heats to 375F in about 10 minutes and maintains that temperature even when frying frozen goods (such as french fries). French fries (from frozen to slight brown) takes around 5 minutes. This fryer does NOT lack for power. 4)It has an air filter (nice touch and most fryers don't have this feature). 5)It is easy to clean. 6)The product is relatively sturdy and bespeaks of quality. Cons: 1)It has a short extension cord (two feet) like most fryers. I don't know why fryers have such short power cords, but you would probably need an extension cord for this fryer. 2)The "maximum" oil indicator in the container is very hard to see and it is easy to pour more oil than the "maximum".

Presto Thought of Everything!
I'm thrilled with this deep fryer. Presto really thought of everything! It is so easy and safe to use and cleans up so easily and beautifully. The cool touch exterior is great and stays cool while using. The basket lowers after the lid is closed, so there are no dangerous grease splatters. The charcoal filter works great. I sit it on my ceramic cook top when I use it and turn my vent fan on low, and you can't smell the frying at all. No more greasy, smelly house after deep frying. Presto even thought to put a little drip-catch cup in the back of the unit so condensation doesn't drip down the back when you open the lid. The adjustable temperature control works great. It heats up to 375 in 12 minutes, and maintains the temperature between batches. It fries beautifully. The first day we made fries and onion rings - crisp and delicious - the best ever. The next day we made crab rangoons - wonderful! The whole unit cleans up simply and beautifully. I just unplug it, close the lid, and let it cool down. When it's all cool, I lift the oil bucket out and slowly pour the oil back into the bottle to save for the next use. If you pour slowly, most of the crumbs stay in the bottom of the pan. Filtering the oil would get out the smallest particles. The oil didn't overheat, so it still looks new after two uses. The fully submersible oil bucket washes up beautifully and looks new yet. The basket washes beautifully. The exterior of the fryer and the inside of the lid cleaned up beautifully just wiping with a hot dish cloth. It cleans up in just minutes, no need to soak or scrub. Everything stores together inside the unit and fits easily into my cupboard. I couldn't be happier with this fryer. I would highly recommend it to anyone who wants a deep fryer for home use.

Don't be fooled by its options and looks. It is cheaply made!
Why did you pick this product vs others?: The initial description sounded convincing enough to meet my needs. And I really wanted for this fryer to work. But it is cheaply made. Once the oil gets hot, the handle seems to be harder to pull up and down. When my food was ready i Spent almost three minutes to get the handle released to remove the basket from the oil. This happened several times. The charcoal filter and lid fell off each time the fryer lid was opened. And the temperature felt like it was inconsistent. The product's features are good but the manufacturing and/or design is poor. And if you want to store the oil in this fryer, it's not completely sealed. The gap near the handle will let air and dust get through. My last sealed deep fryer lasted for 39 years (yes, 39!). This one wouldn't last for more than a year even if I were to accept its flaws. Btw, when I initiated the return, the seller offered to let me keep the fryer with a $12.40 discount. I declined without hesitation. Had they offered a 50% discount I would not have kept it. Buyer be aware.

Good fryer, which could definitely use a few improvements
I bought this fryer to replace a Waring fryer that's good but messy, hard to clean and doesn't have a replaceable filter. I remember the Seb European deep fryer from my childhood, and the hope was that a deep fryer with a locking/sealed cover and filter would minimize frying smell. On the frying, ease-of-use and ease-of-cleaning ends, this fryer doesn't disappoint. It's heats fast and cooks fast, settings are easy to use, and cleaning is a breeze. The housing wipes clean, and so does the oil tank after you've emptied it. No impossible-to-clean, sticky residues anywhere... Now, about the filter... A filter only works if the steam goes exclusively through it. It doesn't; it comes out almost exclusively through the handle opening up front. So if you're thinking of getting this fryer for the filter (like I did), don't bother... As far as the handle is concerned, the basket lift mechanism is a bit flimsy, and the handle is hard to get into the guides. The design could definitely be improved. That being said, it's a good fryer. The round basket makes it easy to get uniform results. No more shaking the basket all over the place so fries won't stick to each others, or be crispy only on one side. The size is great for a family of 4. I didn't test the oil temperature, but the heating plate heats well enough to allow you to deep fry most items fast without oil residues. I had to blot my fried items much more with my Waring fryer (which has submerged heating elements). If I could make any improvements to this fryer, it would be: - A better-sealed cover so the steam actually goes through the filter - A sturdier, better designed basked lift - A longer cord (the cord is about 2 ft.) TIPS: DO NOT fill the tank to the MAX FILL line. The line is about 1/8 inch too high and the burning oil will spill all over the place as you lower the food into it. So make sure you fill the tank between the MIN and MAX fill line, but NOT up to the MAX fill line. I use peanut oil to fry, which has a higher smoking point, doesn't smell and lasts longer. Filtering the cold oil after use is a breeze using a large sieve layered with a good-quality paper towel; the oil comes out super clean and ready for the next round of frying!

Excellent!
Compact and easy to store. Looks nice. Easy to clean because the fryer pot is removable. Makes very crispy fries. Some fryers do not get hot enough, but Cool Daddy does. Excellent fryer.
