Not bad, considering........
This is a tough review to write, to really capture what this amp is but I'm going to try my best.Pros: Small Loud Works as amp, headphone amp, has aux in Variable voltage 9v or 12v Low costCons: Not a lot of headroom Lack of tone control, just one knod Not the best sound Okay in all this is worth the price, I think, and is a solid 4 stars going by price and what you get. Through headphones, it sounds not great but workable. It gets loud enough clean especially going 12v but the clean isn't a great clean. It's headphones, so it's very anemic sounding. The distortion is better but it's not a tight distortion, it's very loose, if you know what I mean. If you don't understand tight distortion, think of it this way, it gets noisy and gets away from you. Through a cab isn't bad, sounds a lot better but it's still a cheap amp sound. If you ever owned one of those old 8" practice amps, especially the ones from the late 80's or early 90's, it's pretty close to that. I know how can I say that and give this 4 stars, well it does get better. Now if you have pedals, say a delay or a reverb, you can fatten up the sound and get that depth I feel like it's missing. Then by adding an OD in front brings that loose distortion some what under control. As a pedal platform it does really well, clean or dirty but you really need it at 12v. Adding pedals to this does take away from it being a small travel practice amp but then again it's still a smaller package than any small amp. I love pedals from using them to just collecting them, I don't care if it's a big name or an off brand. If it sounds good I use it, if it looks good but doesn't sound great, it becomes wall art and I may go back to it later, you never know when it might just give that little extra you want in your tone. In short if you're a pedal person and think the more the better, get it, as I think they have been discontinued. If you're a let the amp make the sound, you may wan't to pass, unless you just need the smallest you can find. By itself I'd say maybe jazz or chicken picking country clean, dirty wise the heaviest you're getting is maybe some Black Sabbath but closer to a noisy KISS, just doesn't have the right fuzz for most Black Sabbath.

This thing is awesome!
Loud enough to hurt your hearing, and the tone knob is a good addition. It does not pop when plugging or unplugging from power if the volume is turned down, unlike my EHX 5mm. Overall a great choice if you are trying to run an amp on your pedalboard using battery power like me, and it is currently the cheapest option.

Noisy
Was Loud when playing and didn't sound bad but... was way to noisy when not playing had to send it back. It was humming louder than any tube amp I own when a distortion/high gain pedal was left on when not playing, just unusable for me. Also, this is solid state type amp and you have no way of turning it off.

Works great
Does exactly what it’s supposed to do, has a lot of volume using a 12 volt power supply. You have to shape your sound some other way, using a pre-amp pedal works great.

Great playing feel for a solid state amp
I got this mainly for busking purpose and as a backup amp for my tube amp .I run it on with the VHT booster volter booster at 12 volt with a Anker USB power pack .This little fellow is loud , I mean it gets freaking loud .u could pull off a band rehearsal with a controled drummer the playing feel is great too .I run it with a 6.5 inch 16 ohm speaker in a cabSpeaker is the most important here .Though my pro jr 10 inch is sound killer for what it isNot a toy . I great tool for off grid rehearsalsHope his helpsI would paid twice the asking priceI also have the Ehx 5mm with is cool too but not as touch sensitive as the VhTBeen playing for 25 years

Inexpensive but noisy
nice little amp. Inexpensive but...it was noisy. I don't know if it was me or the way I was using it. I bought a Carvin Mach 100 that was 3xs as much that had no noise. I ended up sending that one back too. I was trying to downsize but didn't like the sound. I coupled it with a Carvin X1 preamp. Sent that back too. The sound of my Fender Princeton head was much better. Plus it has reverb.

Not versatile, but can be fun
I was only able to get this to sound good with certain guitars. Humbuckers make it fart out. My squier strat was too bright. My p90 King guitar and Hamer Slammer strat sound great. The only speaker I’ve tried and liked is a 1940s philco radio speaker. It was too muddy with my Vintage 30s 4x12.Using pedals I was able to get tones I liked with other speakers and guitars.I find the tone knob useless. This is fun and usable, but really sensitive to the guitar and speakers you use. I would only recommend it for someone who has lots of gear to screw around with, or can demo it with their gear and know they like the sound.

A solid value! Remember it's 6 watts and the price is "right"!
A pedal amp for less than $50, SHIPPED!I grabbed my Japan Esquire, hooked up my 10" speaker from my 76' Princeton Reverb.I suggest the pedal exceeded my expectations. Tried my smart phone into the amp as well.I will take care of the pedal, proper power supply, etc (I want it to last)As a vintage gear player since 1964, I keep in mind it's a $50 class D amp, not a tweed Champ.I will buy from VHT again. The company "passed the audition".Next I will acquire the VHT 6 watt hand wired tube amp. The tube head costs the price of the parts, and it's assembled!hope this helps....
