Great addition, for getting smooth finishes, to my collection of Purdy brushes.
Ever since once of the best house painters I know recommended Purdy brushes to me, I have managed to amass a small collection of them. I've had them for years and they are easily the best brushes I have ever used. So when I needed one to create a smooth texture with high-gloss enamel paint, I ordered this one. The 2 1/2" brush was not only perfect for the project I was doing, but seems to be a great all-purpose size to have. All plusses:I got the finish I was looking for.The brush shed one hair in the process, which was easy to pick out and gloss over.I did have to "prime" the brush a little to avoid getting tiny air bubbles in the paint surface, but expected that.Cleaned up to look like new.Great product.Totally worth the price.

Brush hairs continually come out like a cheap throw-away brush
It looks pretty or Purdy, but despite that name I trusted years ago and the "handcrafted by" initials on the brush, the brush hairs continually come out using oil-based stains and polys, like a cheap throw away brush.

Great for brushing lacquer
I bought this to apply brushing lacquer to woodworking projects like book cases and coffee tables. The brush has held up well, and cleans up nicely. For my first project the lacquer went on so cleanly and with no bubbles or brush marks that even though I had planned to sand and then buff with 4 ot steel wool the finish looked so nice I decided it simply wasn't needed. I expect I'll be using this brush for many projects.

Good brush, poor packaging.
I have been a painter since 1963 and have used this type of brush all of these years. Can't be beat for oil base finishes as it leaves an almost sprayed like finish. Hard to find in stores so when I had a counter top to finish in high gloss oil poly I was pleased to find this. Only complaint is that the handle was broken upon arrival due to improper packaging. Couldn't wait for return and replacement so I kept it. The top came out flawless.

Bristles shed
I had to stop and pick the bristles/hair off the door I was painting. Never had a brush shed so bad before?

Worth the money if you want a smooth poly finish (no bubbles)
This brush is great, our cabinets look awesome and smooth with their oil-based polyurethane.Pro tip - soak this brush in mineral spirits for a minute, then wipe it across cardboard or paper towels to get most of the liquid out. This will fill the air voids in between bristles and help you get a smooth finish when you start applying poly. Also watch some youtube videos to get your technique down.

Only buy this brush if you have not been frustrated in awhile and want to revisit that emotion.
As others had said, this brush sheds bristles with every stroke. Inexcusable for a brush at this price point. I get brushes from the dollar store that are better than this. I wasted my money and wasted my time having to re-sand and re-coat my project.

Hair everywhere
It sheds hair like crazy. I have used it a few times and it just won't stop. I thought after some use it would stop, but no. It's very annoying and I keep having to recheck and touch up everything, because it constantly loses hair. Honestly, after hearing so much about Purdy, I was expecting more.
