WOW! This has made my life so much better
I was a little hesitant to buy this, because when you're dealing with dog pee there are really no guarantees. We have a tiny pad-trained chihuahua rescue who we've been unable to get to go outside. We live in the city and it's too noisy and scary for her, no matter how many things we try. Inside, we'd been using a plastic tray with normal pads, but she would only go on them once each, twice if we were lucky. We were going through about 3 or 4 huge pads every day, plus tons of paper towels because she'd always miss. We have gotten it down to a science with Brilliant Pad, so there are virtually no misses. It is raised off the ground, making it harder for her to miss/pee while walking. She knows to look for pads and Brilliant Pad is smooth, so I place a little square of paper towel onto the pad, which she innately knows to aim for. We place it on the side that is close to the power/where the pad disappears, so we are able to roll away only a few inches each time she goes. We only go through a full length of the pad about every day. It is so much easier, so much less waste, and virtually no smell or cleanup. I can see how larger dogs or puppies might have issues getting used to it, but it couldn't be more perfect for our little adult chi.

Clean and simple
I have been using the Brilliant Pad for well over a year now and I absolutely love it! My dog was previously using a potty pad holder that had a grated top, which would get disgusting and I'd be stuck cleaning it outside. Now, I just roll it up! My fur baby has more space for going potty too, which leads to less 'misses' on my floor next to the potty. I just give it a good disinfecting when I change out the roll and that's it! Some people have commented that sometimes the roll mechanic is slower at times than others. This is simply because when a roll is new, it is wrapping around a smaller diameter rod, requiring more rotations to pull the pad. When the roll is half way or mostly used, the pad is wrapping around a wider diameter rod, allowing the pad to pull more quickly. The product works, fine. It's physics that's to blame. ;) As a side note, my shih tzu was very ill for about a week, with gastrointestinal issues. The Brilliant Pad really helped me keep things clean when things were...let's just say...very messy.

Too big. Timer waists soooo much pad roll goes fsst. Rolls too expensive. Pee gets under pad!
Nooooo. I have a maltesse. she went on it a fre times. Idea is sensible. but its too high off ground. Biggest issue is the main purpose for buying this thing. Cleaning. 1 no side protetion. So pee gets under matt. All over system. even drips to floor. Maybe would be okay to deal with a lil spillage and clean up on system & your floor if the rolls were not so EXPENSIVE. there is a timer to set. Great. In theory. but if your busy you want it to clean itself as often as possible. but timer is a timer. It rolls when it rolls. So wastes soooooo much roll. If im not going to set timer to not waste rolls then better off with pee pads on a box. Low one. If it had a sensor only rolled away mess when there was mess, maybe it would be worth it. But still doesn't change the height or fact that gets wet under pad and pee still makes to floor. Motion freaks dog out. So she avoids it. It must have been set to roll at somepoint when she was about to use. Now she wont go near it. But i was most shocked at how quickly roll was finished because it looked sooooo big. Didnt last a week on highest roll setting which is what any one would use when out. No point to have system if its not going to clean the mess ,contain odor. So I'd say unless your dog has no issues with movement they don't understand. And you dont mind spending 80 bux or more every week or 2 for pads. Better off with just pads. Plus the system is enormous. we have a house. Not small apartment. no where convenient to put this thing. Biggest mistake ive ever made on a purchase i was sure would solve an issue. i want my money back. I have given it time. Been like 6 months. I want my money back.

Solid product that saves cleaning time.
Overall this is a good, solid product that accomplishes what it's said to do. It DOES SAVE A LOT OF CLEANING. But still some cleaning left. *you'll need to buy new rolls every month *your dog will need training to transition into the new roll material- meaning you might have potty accidents again. This is not completely automatic so you'll still have to do some cleaning. BUT THERE IS A LOT LESS CLEANING, 150+ about 60 every month for new rolls. - a comment on the rolls, I have a 8lb dog and one roll lasts 15 days for him. Pros: The bottom does not leak, if you've had pad holders that leaked on to the bottom, you know what I mean...and not fun to clean up. This product is great, and the bottom doesn't leak, I don't have to lift up the machine to clean underneath. It automatically rolls, and save a lot of cleaning time. Cons: *I use a combination of potty pad and the roll, because my dog is still training to adapt to the new roll. And it may get too full! You'll have to un-roll the whole thing, and smell the old potty, because the roll paper is locked at the center. (I wish they could change the lock design so it's releasable from outside) It's good and easy to throw away the whole roll, but in my case it gets too full before the whole roll is used up... They do advise using with potty pads at beginning training sessions, don't roll in the potty pads! Save yourself work. They added a lip to the 2.0 version, it does help to a certain degree, but not much. To really block the leaking, you need to add a side wall to the edge. I have a dog that potties sideways, so I still need to insert another potty pad and diy a barrier wall in between to help prevent the leaking. Then again, this is not the issue of the product, but a more personal issue based on doggy preference. ------------ I will only NOT recommend this product if you have a dog that potties extremely sideways, meaning that he stands on the pad but the potty just aims off the pad... Overall it's a lot less cleaning, serves as a great pad holder. ———- Updated review in 2021: Just updating that I still have this product, but went back to using good old potty pads. My dog developed some issues so this potty will no longer work. Didn’t bother train my new dog on the rolls. (Once dog is accustomed to rolls I’ll need to keep buying it forever which I didn’t find desirable) So three years later, I still have this product. It sits as a doggy bathroom cushion/holder. But I no longer buy any rolls, I’m still using good old Charcoal potty pads. So, if you like your current holder and potty pad, things are fine as is. If you wanna try this out to see if it’s game changer, fun experiment. I still have it, but it’s just a pad holder now for another pad. I still like that the bottom is nicely designed so it doesn’t leak.

REMARKABLE!
So glad I purchased the Brilliant Pad! I have two tiny dogs who were paper trained, but I still had to pick up the used paper to discard it. And I put pads underneath to keep them from leaking which had to be washed. Disgusting! I simply put their pads on the Brilliant Pad for a month so both dogs could get used to it. And voila! They are now using the Brilliant Pad without any problem. So convenient and easy to replace the rolls. No smell and I keep it in my bathroom. I recently bought a second one for the main area of the house in case I forget and close my bathroom door. This is such a timesaver, and I don’t have to deal with the smell or the mess anymore. Highly recommended. I can’t say enough good things.

Great concept
I have one and with my pet being pee pad trained it has been a easy transition. My problem with this is the pads themselves. They don’t seem to absorb everything and then they stick to the bottom and can’t roll. It defeats the purpose if I’m having to pick up a rolland wipe it down each time and wait till it dries to reset it. It seems like after awhile the roll is too heavy for the machine to rotate in. So lots of flaws but I purchased a ton of rolls so now am just using them up till I find a better solution

A God-Send With A Young Puppy!
This has been a God-send for my 26-week-old Maltese puppy! Thought the action and sound when rolling up used portion to reveal a new pad was going to freak him out; instead he was so curious he darn near SAT on it while "supervising" the operation! As a 77-year-old with balance/mobility issues, however, I am kind of dreading when a new pad needs to be installed...and think I'll holler for help! We'll see. Otherwise it's working beautifully--better than expected. Another thing: description does NOT tell you where to find the Manual button to advance the pad. Look at the pictures included and you'll get the hang of it.

Thank you, thank you, thank you!
I have a five pound Havanese. Going to the bathroom outside is beneath her. She literally looks at me like I am crazy for asking her to do so. Thankfully, after a year of despair and buying a thousand replacement pads for my Swiffer, I came across this gem, and I'm so glad that I did. It took a few days for my princess to understand what she was supposed to do, but now, she uses it almost every time. (She still has the occasional "Bite me" moment.) She doesn't go poo on it, but since she times those pretty well, I can handle it. It's easy to change and lasts fairly long for just one dog. (I have three others, but they understand what the yard is for.) I do wish the replacement pads were a little cheaper, but I will pay for them because it's so much better than wet socks. Now, if you can just keep her from sliding out the fence....
