Apex Construct - PlayStation 4

Up until I finished the game I was going to give Apex Construct 3 stars. Then I beat the game (I think). The game completely lacks an ending apart from a minute or so of dialogue. There is no resolution, no answers to your questions and no clear indication that you just beat a video game. I was so disappointed I dropped my review to 2 stars and thought about just giving it 1 star. I usually save 1 star video game reviews for games that are so bad I'll stop playing and never complete.The game itself was alright. It actually kept me occupied for a couple of weeks though there were times when I played something else in between sessions. To me, a good game will keep me pumped up to play it but I never felt that way about this game. I probably spent about 15 hours playing, but that included a lot of replaying levels. I'm sure it can be completed much quicker.I feel the best parts of this game are using the bow and arrow and the difficulty. The way you use your weapon is a fun use of the Move Controllers. Even on the Normal setting the game was difficult enough that I died plenty and had to do levels, or at least sections of levels, multiple times before I could beat them. As you get better with the bow it gets easier, and like I mentioned earlier, you can replay any level you beat and earn points to upgrade your bow, arrows and shield.Unfortunately the game suffers from a lack of diversity. There are only a handful of levels and when you're sent on new missions you are sent back to those same environments but you collect key cards that open up new areas. Sometimes those new areas are only an extra room or two. There are only 3 types of standard enemies (one of those having 3 variations). There is only 1 boss that you fight twice and the second time around isn't much harder than the first.When you beat the game you're sent back to your home base and the AI that's giving you missions the whole time (Fathr) gives a very brief speech. Then the game is over. You can continue to replay the levels but I didn't see much point in doing that as the ending left me with an empty feeling. There are no credits that role at this point. You can watch the credits at anytime from the main menu.I paid less than 20 bucks for this but even that feels like a waste of money to me. I wouldn't recommend paying any more than that. I don't see much replay value. Glad I got a physical copy so hopefully I'll be able to get something for selling it.

First, the package arrived in perfect condition: This is always the first concern of mine. Second, the game is great! The gameplay is clean, smooth, and thought provoking. The aiming system and bow mechanics are better than Skyrim for sure, and the environment is unique and artfully designed. The story has an ominous undertone that gets my blood going for sure, and tests my willingness to trust others. Although relatively brief, it is a great experience either way. It is worth the purchase for any PSVR user

Awesome game with beautiful graphics. Fun puzzles and exploration with light archery combat, highly recommended!
