Tried it on my wind jacket and made it waterproof for plauing golf.
I have an old wind pullover that was bought in 2009. I have used it as a wind jacket but lately was wearing for the rain. During a down pour the jacket was completed soaked and I was completely wet under the jacket. I used the GEAR Aid Care kit and today was out in the rain again and did not get wet at all. You have to follow the directions.I washed the jacket with the Pro cleaner using a capful for each product. I had the jacket, rain pants and a raincoat in my front loader washing machine and used a cap full for each item. Ran it on cold and then add the Wash in water repellent pouring it in the softener section and setting on delicate and warm. After it was done placed it in the dryer on medium for polyester items and ran it at the full timer. When it came out everything was slick. I wore the pants and wind jacket today and it was pouring but did not get wet at all after paying 18 holes.I also bought the spray Gear Aid Revivex DWR spray and used it on the head overs and it kept the head cover dry. I also tried the spray on a new raincoat and it beaded the water perfectly. This is a good product, just follow the directions and it works well. The most important part is using the Pro cleaner first before using the Revivex Wash in Water repellent or the spray. The Pro cleaner seems to remove any residue from other water repellent treatments and allows the Revivex Wash in Water Repellent and spray to adhere better. I don't know how long this will last but there is enough to re-treat it every 6 months. Also the old raincoat was sticky but after washing and treating with the Wash in Water Repellent the old rain coat became slick again. I was going to throw it out the old rain coat because it was all sticky and gross but now it is good for another 10 years.

Great way to bring older fabrics back to life
I was looking for a way to salvage my old Gore-Tex lifer jacket I still had from my Army days. It's thirty years old but in really good shape except for the waterproofing going. So I researched it and found this. I had to apply the treatment twice, probably because of the age, but it seems to have finally worked.

Restoration not Time Rewound
After using Grangers Performance Repel Plus / Waterproofing Spray for Outerwear, I was not completely satisfied with the results on my North Face Venture 2 Jacket. The jacket had wet spots and other areas where water beaded off. As of 2023, North Face has moved on to the Antora jacket, so I can't compare if I brought it to the store. To be fair, I recall this jacket was water-repellent and not waterproof. There was a product reviewer at that time who confirmed that this jacket could not withstand heavy downpours. I took another stab at improving the waterproofing with the Gear Aid Care Kit.I tested three jackets:North Face Venture 2 Jacket (2013) and Lululemon Surge Jacket (2017) - no more repellent, after 10 minutes in lite to moderate rain it absorbs and soaks through. After Granger, mostly waterproof and water-beaded except for patches and the hand area in the sleeves.Port Authority® Torrent Waterproof Jacket. J333 (2020) could be a quality issue, or not supposed to use mild detergent, There is definitely no more repellent after 10 minutes in lite to moderate rain it absorbs and soaks through and the jacket gets heavier because it retains the water. This is a work jacket and I see other more water repellent than mine, so it might be a bad batch. For this one, I did NOT apply Granger prior to this test. Results: All three jackets were washed in the cleaning solution as part of the kit. I decided not to put this into the washer again with the waterproofing solution and use the soak method of 10 minutes and into the dryer. Improved results on all three, 85% of the jackets were beading water better than a shower curtain. 15% was the sleeve to the hand holes in all three. Instead of another run of the same steps, I decided to soak all three jackets' sleeves in the solution for 4 hours. This area is extremely difficult because you can't lay flat for the spray method there are ruffles in the cuffs that I tried to straighten in the solution. After the soak and the dryer, all three jackets had significant improvement up until the cuff area. The cuff area in all three jackets eventually absorbed water. Conclusion: These products work to restore waterproofing qualities in these jackets. The areas of failure are the collar (if applicable), cuffs, and the jacket hem. In any moderate to severe rain, the water won't bead off the jacket, but into the collar, cuff, and jacket hem to collect water. I suspect these areas of high traffic with my hands could possibly damaged areas with body oils, products used like lotions, sunscreen that might come off my hands, and dirt rubbings on these areas. It might be a better solution to use the GearAir Kit annually to protect against the breakdown of the coating instead of waiting for waterproof failure.

Saved My Tent!
After an ill-fated camping trip this summer that ended abruptly when I rushed home to deal with a family emergency, I left my tent sitting in a heap in the yard. It got rained on multiple times, resulting in it getting mildewy and gross. I later decided to wash it and dumped it into a bucket of soapy water, then got pulled away for something else for a couple of weeks, which meant it ended up smelling like a swamp. I thought for sure it was ruined.Gear Aid saved the day! I soaked the tent overnight in a tub of water mixed with this product, then hung it up and scrubbed every inch of it with a soft sponge and soapy Gear Aid/water mix. Then I rinsed it thoroughly and let it line dry. No more smell at all! I am thrilled. I will treat my gear more nicely in the future, but if this ever happens again, it's good to know there is a solution!

Worked On My Wet Weather Riding Gear
Used this for an equestrian rain duster and a shorter raincoat/jacket. This product was recommended by the manufacturer. Super simple to use in a front loader. The cleaner removed all the horse dirt and muck along with the forest dirt you pick up in mountain trail in rainy wet weather, and the water repellent didn't leave any weird residue or odor. I was expecting to maybe have to do the process twice. But the jacket and duster turned out looking like new. I did them separately since they are not really lightweight and the duster is bulky. Took off a star for ease of use only because the design of the caps can make it messy to measure out properly.

Best cleaner for all your hiking/camping gear!
I've now used this GEAR AID product for washing hiking gear (backpack, dry bags, rain jackets, ...etc), and this is the best!! My gear is like new again, without compromising the quality of the fabric (water repellency, ...etc). Very highly recommended!!!!
