This toy is fantastic for my very hands on and curious 8 month old. The size is manageable for him to pick up and flip around, and it’s lightweight enough for him. He loves banging on it - the sensories pick up their soft touch and light up red, green and blue. Music continues to play after he hits it which attracts him to want to keep playing with it. It’s especially fun to play with in the evening, as the lights dim in the house. The colors on the bongo really come alive. Will definitely be buying this as a gift for other babies.

I bought this after seeing my friend's kid with it during playdate. First, the drum has 2 tones and an ongoing beat when it turns on its side. There is no annoying music or nonstop looping. Also, there is enough sound differentiation that it entertained my baby without being overstimulating (no strobe effects). My husband and I are both musicians and love how the toy is educational without encouraging noise pollution.This is a good toy for children around 1yo but my 2.5yo still plays with it.

Infant loves beating the drum. Only a few tunes but entertaining for a baby.

This drum is one of my children’s favorite toys. We use it daily during music time. It is sturdy and stands up to two toddlers beating, rolling and dropping it on the floor often. There is no volume control but it’s not extremely loud. Whether the sounds and lights are on or it’s off the drum itself is still attractive and fun to my children.

My granddaughter loves to beat on this and especially loves to roll it, and have the music play so she can dance. The lights aren’t over flashy but fun to watch for her.

Hape makes such good quality products. This is a super cute toy and the sounds/lights are fun for the baby while not being overly loud for adults. The sound stops when the child stops playing with it, too, so that is nice.

My 5 month old seemed to really enjoy music and was starting to smack the table he would be sitting at so decided to get him a drum to smack. Now, a little over 6 months, it easily has become his favorite toy. Whenever he is sitting on the floor, I put this in front of him and he happily bangs away.There isn’t any volume control and when the drum is on its side, it plays music, which is great for the baby. Awful for the parents as eventually the music will drive you mad! But what children’s toy that makes music, especially a drum, isn’t that an issue?

My son LOVES this toy! I'm honestly quite stunned at the quality of it. The drum pad is wood, rather than plastic, and has taken an absolute pounding. There are two separate tones depending on where you strike the head, and both are working great after months of play. I also love the feature that makes it play music when its turned on its side - it keeps the kiddo engaged even if they knock it over. Volume can be adjusted with a simple high/low toggle. Highly recommended!
