I’m single af so I decided it was a great time to get off hormonal birth control to see if I can ovulate regularly, track how well my efforts to balance my hormones are going, and track my fertility before I want to have kids. I’ve gotten so sick of fighting with my hormones or trying to turn them off, to the detriment of my whole body. I read Lara Briden’s book Period Repair Manual and decided to pursue the Justisse/FAM of family planning because of that awesome book. I love the concept of body literacy that comes with this book. The FAM method seems like a beautiful way to live in harmony with womanhood and embracing femininity instead of combating it.

Good summary, but not a stand alone manual
It's ok for a jumping off point for FAM, but I found it really tough to follow. Definitely think about finding an instructor if you want to try this method. Temperature protocol is in C°, which I didn't know, and is extremely vague. It doesn't have any examples of what to do in the case of a non-standard shift. It's primarily CM based, so the categories are a bit complex. I ended up dropping this method and switching to Sensiplan as it's easier to understand without an instructor.

All women need this book!!
Wonderful information on how to naturally get to know your body as a woman and recognize what various signs mean with regards to reproductive health. I absolutely love this book, it is very simply and clearly laid out. There is also a phenomenal website where you can become a member, connect with women's health experts and chart your reproductive cycle on a month to month calendar so that you can know when you are fertile.[...]Just fabulous-I recommend it to all women!!

Formatting disappointing
The formatting for the Kindle edition is horrible. Several pages have one letter per line and any pictures have text over the top and captions on different pages from the figure. I'm so disappointed. I was really looking forward to this book but it's unreadable.Update: was able to finish reading by opening the Kindle reader through the browser. Formatting still off but readable.

Practical and empowering
I’m doing my second chart right now with the assistance of a Justisse Practitioner and I love it. Great tool for self-knowledge. I would recommend reading the book and even try doing just one chart before speaking with a practitioner; they’re very helpful. I wouldn’t recommend using the method as a contraceptive without first achieving confidence with the help of a practitioner.

No longer confused! :)
This book is amazing! I never knew the female body was so interesting! I've read a couple fertility awareness books and this one had the most clear and systematic description of how to chart and how to distinguish between different types of cervical fluid. I am no longer confused by what it means when my pattern doesn't fit the usual textbook. A must for those looking to improve their charting skills.
