Informative
I love dummy series and this is no exception. It be is a very good book to start on the subject.

I did not detect much improvement over previous versions.
This book would be better if it would just stick to one version of linux at a time. By jumping from version to version without any logical reason that I could ascertain, it was really hard to get to any information that would be helpful for me. I think that the best use for this book is to find something by using the index and hope that it applies to the right distribution or at least to point to where to look. Considering that there are hundreds of versions of Linux and that each version is regularly updated, it does not make much sense to erratically jump from subject to subject, version to version, and topic to topic. This can't be of use to someone who is just learning as a beginner.

Linux NOT for Dummies
I read portions of book from library copy. Recommend if you seriously want to learn. So this full PDF version is actually better than hard copy to use in studying.

Needed this... Helps with the basics and a little more to make you professional

Good reference book
However, the pages are similar to newsprint and make highlighting difficult. Overall the text is a fine addition to the Linux library.

Linux All in One
As usual and expected, this book has good intentions to be used as a credible resource for whatever direction you wish to follow.

Very poor explanations not recommend for beginner ,very disappointed for a dummies book
I have used dummies books in the past in the past and found them excellent however this seems to be an exception. I have used Linux before, quite some time ago, and I bought this book to help with installing a new copy of Linux and as a memory jogger.Very disappointed with the explanations, they do not go into any detail and I believe that a newby would have problems installing Linux from the descriptions in the book. This was consistent throughout t the book. For example:1. the chapter on installing Linux does not go into any details at all, basically it just says to install Linux from a flash drive, very short explanation given, then no mention of how to install or what partitions are needed and the sizes.2. When the book mentions installing apps there is no mention of repositories and how to use them.I would not expect a professional description of Linux in this level of book, but would expect to be given full details of how to carry out basic operations.

Great book worth every penny.
This 8-in-1 is worth every penny. I remember buying multiple UNIX books in the 1980s when I was bootstrapping into that ecosystem so it is nice to have an all-in-one general reference for the Linux ecosystem. Full Disclosure: actions by my employer back in 2016 forced me back into the Linux world (I was only a Linux hobbyist before then). They decided on RHEL (Red Hat Enterprise Linux) for all customer facing systems and CentOS for everything else (development, user acceptance testing. etc) which means we see a lot of stuff rarely seen on other Linux distros like LVM and SELinux. So my only complaint about this book is that those two topics are missing. Now that IBM has purchased Red Hat Software, perhaps the author will add these topics to the next edition.
