Secrets of the CSCS Exam Study Guide: CSCS Test Review for the Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist Exam

I recently received this study guide book with questions and I am learning quite a bit which will be helpful when I am ready to take my exam. The book is full of great information and a helpful study guide as I progress. I would definitely recommend this to other people preparing for their exam.

I have been having a hard time studying for this exam and this guide has helped me with getting w better way to understand what I need to know for this test. I have 2 other certifications and this one is the hardest for me. This secret study guide has helped me tremendously!!

After taking a practice test and getting a 50% for a class I'm taking in school to prepare me for the CSCS exam, I decided to get some supplemental aides. I found this resource helpful. It has all of the vocabulary words with definitions as well as explanations for the answers. This makes it a lot easier to study rather than thumbing through pages of the book or having to transfer definitions to notecards or another format.

I love how it breaks down each important subject to the point and not a lot of extra wording around it. The test questions are different than what I have been working for but I love how it explains why the answer is what it is. This will help me pass my CSCS test in a month.

I will start by saying that in 2008 I took a class focused on the CSCS exam and that after taking the class I passed the exam with no problems whatsoever. Fast forward 7 years, my certification is expired and I was looking for a study guide to refresh my memory before retaking the exam. I bought this book hoping that it would save me from re-reading the essentials book from cover to cover. Like my title says if you are counting on this book to pass the CSCS exam please reconsider registering. It is simply a list of definitions and filler. There are no authors listed as far as I can tell. I wouldn't be surprised if none of the people that put this book together have the CSCS credential. This book actually lists a definition for the word "buff". It says that buff refers to a large and muscular body and usually refers to the male gender. A female would be known as "Buffy". I would be willing to bet that is not on the exam. Don't waste your money on this garbage.

This book is really straight forward and goes into just enough depth. I really like the practical questions in the book which feel very realistic. Based on what i have read regarding the test, it uses a lot of practical questions so this book really makes me feel as if it is leading me in the right direction.

Good idea, as books like these are needed, but very substandard execution... Given reasonably steep price, not exactly money well spent, I am afraid. Found some factual mistakes, not many but a few still (e.g. "exhaustion" is not a phase in GAS cycle according to this book [see p73] but it very clearly is according to official textbook [see p508] etc). On occasion, I found that in an attempt to define various concepts in a brief and concise manner, which is the whole purpose of this type of book, I suppose, the effort fell well short of the objective, I am afraid, these concepts were defined way better in the textbook and in a reasonably concise manner too. In fact, make it on more than on a few occasion...Certainly could be improved... Follows the old format of the exam too (4 choice questions, they are now 3 choice questions as of recently) - recent change, the publisher probably didn't have time to amend for this yet, but still a relevant point in decision-making process here. If you still feel you want to work through this book in preparation for your exam though, you will be well advised to do so after working through the official textbook first. There will be some benefit to it, marginal as it were, but not entirely useless. As for the value for money - see above.

I'm very impressed with the material and it's met my needs with the in-depth vocabulary and difficulty of questions. I feel that this book will help me be very prepared for my exam.
