The Roomba Plus 505X Combo Robot with AutoWash Dock is designed for busy households, pet owners, and anyone who wants consistently cleaner floors without the time and effort of daily involvement. It combines powerful vacuuming, effective mopping, and a fully automated dock into one all‑in‑one system built to handle real everyday messes, from muddy paw prints and scattered crumbs to sticky kitchen spills. Spinning DualClean™ Mop Pads with PerfectEdge™ extend along walls and corners to deliver 18% more floor coverage*, helping remove dirt that often builds up in high‑traffic homes, while SmartScrub provides 2x deeper scrubbing** to loosen dried‑on messes common in kitchens and entryways. With up to 70x more suction***, Carpet Boost, a multi‑surface rubber brush, and an edge‑sweeping brush, the robot effectively lifts dust, debris, and pet hair from both carpets and hard floors, giving confidence to families managing shedding pets or mixed flooring. The AutoWash Dock is ideal for people who don’t want to think about maintenance, self‑emptying up to 75 days of debris into a sealed bag that helps trap allergens, rinsing mop pads during cleaning so dirt isn’t spread around the house, and washing and heat‑drying pads when cleaning is complete so they’re always fresh and ready. A built‑in self‑cleaning cycle reduces residue buildup inside the dock with minimal effort, making it well suited for allergy‑sensitive homes. ClearView™ Pro LiDAR maps your home quickly and accurately day or night, while specialized sensors help prevent falls down stairs. PrecisionVision™ AI recognizes cords, socks, and even pet waste, allowing the robot to steer smoothly around obstacles, while Advanced Dirt Detect™ Technology identifies larger wet and dry messes and automatically repeats cleaning passes for a more thorough result. Using the Roomba® Home App or your preferred voice assistant, you can vacuum, mop, combo clean, or vacuum first then mop, set repeat passes in high‑traffic areas, or schedule quiet nighttime cleaning. With a refined, modern design, both the robot and dock blend seamlessly into your home, delivering one powerful, hands‑free solution for effortlessly fresh carpets and gleaming floors. *Compared to unextended DualClean™ Mop Pad **Compared to standard vacuum & mop mode on coffee & grime ***Compared to Roomba® 600 series robots ****Works with Alexa, Siri, and Google Assistant-enabled devices. Review: Genuinely high‑end cleaning, with a frustrating fresh start for long‑time Roomba owners - I’ve been in the iRobot ecosystem for a long time, and the Roomba Plus 505X Combo feels like a real “next‑gen” robot in how it cleans, but also a hard reset when it comes to parts and accessories. On the cleaning side, this thing is impressive. The vacuum power is absolutely in the “serious mess” category, and the combo of suction plus the dual spinning mop pads does a much better job on stuck‑on grime than the older drag‑a‑pad designs. It actually feels like it’s scrubbing, not just wiping. The AutoWash dock is the star of the show, though. It auto‑empties the dust bin, washes the mop pads, heat‑dries them, and even runs its own little self‑cleaning routine, so the dock doesn’t turn into a nasty science experiment. If you’re serious about offloading floor cleaning as a chore, a dock like this really is mandatory, and this one is a clear step up from previous generations. The dock contacts are big and beefy, so you don’t get that “is it actually charging?” anxiety or misalignments that happen when tiny contacts get grimy. Navigation and intelligence are also a big upgrade over the old-school bump‑and‑hope bots. LiDAR mapping makes runs feel very intentional, room coverage is thorough, and obstacle avoidance is much smarter than what iRobot was doing a few generations back. It does a decent job of steering around everyday clutter, which is huge in a house with pets, toys, and random life debris. Now the part that stings if you’re already deep into Roomba land: none of your old stuff carries over. This series uses its own filters, brushes, side brushes, mop pads—the works. If you’ve got a drawer full of iRobot consumables from previous bots, they’re basically dead weight with this model. Functionally, that doesn’t hurt how well it cleans, but as a long‑time user it’s disconnecting to realize you’re starting from zero on supplies after years of sticking with the same brand. I'm very skeptical of the new brush roller. It isn't as quiet as the dual rubber rollers of the past and the jury is still out on whether it's better. To give you an idea about it... the flagship of the line, the 705, uses the old rubber tube brushes! What does that say? Overall, if you look at it in isolation, the 505X Combo plus AutoWash dock is an excellent “hands‑off” cleaning setup that really does vacuum and mop with minimal babysitting. As an upgrade, it’s a mixed emotional bag: fantastic hardware, genuinely smart docking and pad care, but also a complete break with the accessories you’ve already invested in. If you’re okay starting fresh, it’s a very capable flagship‑style robot that finally matches the “set it and forget it” marketing in day‑to‑day use. RECOMMENDED Review: Easy set up. Cleans well and navigation is great. - The biggest standout feature for me is the AutoWash dock. Having the robot automatically empty debris, wash the mop pads, and heat dry them makes a huge difference in how low-maintenance it feels day to day. According to iRobot, the dock can auto-empty for up to 75 days and also refresh and clean the mop pads during use, which helps keep odors and dirty pads under control. The cleaning performance is also very strong overall. The suction handles everyday dirt, crumbs, dust, and pet hair well, while the spinning mop pads do a noticeably better job than older flat drag-style mops. I especially like the extending mop edge feature because it helps get closer to walls and corners instead of leaving obvious untouched strips. iRobot states the mop pads extend closer to edges and use scrubbing pressure for deeper cleaning. Navigation has been one of the stronger parts of the experience too. The LiDAR mapping is fast and accurate, and obstacle avoidance is much smarter than older generations of robot vacuums. It recognizes cords, shoes, and other common obstacles fairly reliably, which is a huge improvement over the random bumping around older Roombas were known for. For homes with pets, it’s especially useful: * Handles pet hair well overall * Rubber brush design helps reduce tangling * Self-emptying dock means less frequent bin emptying * Heated mop drying helps prevent musty mop smells A few realistic notes: * The dock is fairly large, so it needs dedicated floor space * Self-cleaning cycles can be noisy * Like all robot vacuums, it’s best viewed as a maintenance cleaner rather than a total replacement for occasional deep cleaning * Initial setup and mapping take some patience, but afterward it becomes much more automated One thing I’ve seen echoed by both reviewers and owners is that this model really shines on hard floors and for maintaining everyday cleanliness with very little effort from the user. Overall, this feels like a major step up from older robot vacuums. Between the intelligent navigation, spinning mop system, and highly automated dock, it genuinely cuts down on how much routine floor cleaning you have to think about.

Thorough and slow
I like clean floors. It’s a holdover from when I used to walk around barefoot all the time. I’d hesitated on robot vacuums because I didn’t realize how advanced they’ve gotten—and honestly, I can still vacuum or mop my whole place faster than a robot can. But a robot has one big advantage: it can get to places I either can’t or just won’t. A lot of older robot mops just dragged a pad around, and once it got dirty, it mostly spread that dirt instead of cleaning. This one is different—it returns to the base on a schedule you can set to clean the mop pads, which makes a noticeable difference over a full run. The mopping is actually pretty impressive. The pads spin, and they’re mounted on extendable arms that reach edges and get close to corners instead of leaving a strip of untouched floor. That said, it does sometimes leave the floor a little wetter than I’d like in certain spots, so drying time can vary. The vacuuming is solid, too. It navigates well and gets under most furniture, although the lidar “periscope” does make it a bit taller, so it may not fit under lower-clearance pieces where slimmer robots might. It also integrates easily with Alexa—I have it set to start as part of a morning routine, which is a nice quality-of-life upgrade. The downside is time. My condo is about 1200 square feet (and realistically less to clean because of furniture), and it still takes over an hour just to vacuum, and more than two hours to vacuum and mop. It can handle vacuuming on a single charge, but my first vacuum-and-mop run needed a recharge partway through, which takes a few hours. That meant I had to cancel it before it finished. On the next run, it did complete everything in one go, so it seems a bit dependent on conditions. Bottom line: if you want consistently clean floors with minimal effort, this works really well. If you want them clean quickly, you’ll still be faster doing it yourself.

Hard working robot
I have been using robot vacuums for a while now and I usually let them do what they are good at. My house has plenty of hardwood so I have been using one to primarily do daily wipe down “mopping” to keep the floors clean, then I vacuum the carpet. Normally the mopping is more like a quick wipe down, but it did the job. This promised to vacuum and mop and it looked like it would give my floors more of a real mop. I was skeptical at first to trust one of these to stop mopping when it hit the carpet but I tried it out. This one pulls the mop pads up before switching to the carpet. It does a much better job mopping than just having a microfiber cloth, this is very close to a real mop and on my floor there has not been a difference. The vacuum is perfect for keeping things tidy and having one machine that can handle the whole house has been great. This unit is much louder than the other robots I have used and I think that is due to suction. I let this do its auto mapping routine, without being connected to see what it would do. It still seemed to map because when I pressed the power button the next time it went through its routine. It got a lot better once I connected it, I think that shaved the time down by 15 minutes since I ordered the rooms on the routine. The articulating pads, which seemed gimmicky work really well around corners and obstacles. Info Louder and more suction Great Multi-surface Long runtime Great mopping Good enough vacuuming even with dogs.

Best robot vacuum EVER
I can’t say enough about this Roomba combination vacuum and mop. I have a knockoff version that performs better than expected, but the performance of this machine is off the charts😳 My floors have never been cleaner‼️ User friendly right out of the box, once easy to use app is installed on your phone. A total powerhouse, keeps up with debris from 3 dogs and a cat. Completely avoids obstacles including pets, has a headlight to help with self navigation. Self empties the dustbin to a vacuum bag housed in the base. Self cleans the mop pads halfway through mopping! Does a better job than I do, seriously. I haven’t dropped it yet, it’s a weighty machine, but it’s tangled with wires that I hadn’t tucked away and all survived. Excellent durability and performance. This will have to do until the Optimus robot is ready 😆 Honestly, I’ll never vacuum and mop again. How much is that worth to you? Looks like I hired a cleaning crew🌈 I think it’s worth its weight in gold and excellent value for cost but if you balk at the price tag, there are cheaper options. The Roomba 505 seems essentially the same except no extended mop pads at a lower price point. The extended mop pads are incredible and reach EVERY bit of your floor including corners and hard to get spots. But if you want to save money, you can settle for superior instead of perfection. I must also mention the set it and forget it features: automated cleaning routines mean all that’s required from you is a monthly check on the mop water and vacuum bag. I can’t believe I lived to see the day that a robot would keep my house clean HALLELUJAH

Much improved with lidar. Navigation is night and day compared to old units
This is my 2nd 505 combo and so far im really enjoying the newer models with lidar. Before running my j7 at night required leaving lights on. With lidar this is no longer necessary. The spinning mop pad extends out to reach in corners. Surprisingly the vacuum suction power is pretty good even with only 1 roller. I wasnt a big fan when I first started using these models. To my surprise its atleast equivalent to the j7 this replaced. I will say my 705 combo with dual brushes out performs this is every way but also costs almost 3x more. For the price of this item if you have mainly hardwood this is your guy. I use it as a backup on my main level which is all hardwood to my 705 combo. They both run once a day and mop with 3 dogs 2 being german shepherds its necessary to keep clean floors with 2 children under 3. Overall this unit is a huge improvement over my past robots. I like the new app much better and like the option to send it to an exact spot to clean without cleaning a whole room. This has the heated mop pad drying which is what the 405 doesn't have. So if comparing the 2 this unit was worth the extra to have the mop pads dry and clean for each use. Overall this is a budget friendly robot with upgraded features like lidar navigation but it doesn't break the bank. I wouldnt hesitate to purchase this matter of fact I own 2 of this exact model.

Great Investment
The iRobot Roomba Plus 505X Combo has been a big upgrade for keeping my home clean with minimal effort. The setup was straightforward, and once it was mapped out, it started cleaning efficiently without much babysitting. The vacuuming power is solid, especially for pet hair and everyday debris. The mopping feature is also surprisingly useful for light daily upkeep. It’s not a replacement for deep scrubbing, but it keeps floors looking consistently clean. The auto-wash and heated drying dock are a standout feature since they take a lot of maintenance off your hands. The obstacle avoidance works well most of the time, and it does a good job navigating around furniture and clutter. The LiDAR mapping is accurate and helps it clean in organized patterns rather than random movement. The main downside is that the dock is fairly large, so you’ll need a good amount of space for it. It’s also a premium-priced device, so it feels more like a convenience investment than a basic vacuum replacement. Overall, it’s a strong choice for pet owners or busy households who want daily cleaning handled with minimal effort. It doesn’t replace occasional deep cleaning, but it definitely reduces how often you need to do it yourself.

Easy to set up and does a great job!!
This was fun to set up. It took about 20 minutes to set up, download the app, then it had a update. I thought it would be harder to set up but the app is pretty easy to use. First thing you do is set up a map, I only wanted my living room and kitchen done so I closed all the doors and it goes around the house then goes home and starts cleaning. I was impressed! It did a really good job. I have a cat and littler seems to always be on the floor. It got all of it up and the cat did not mind also. It also has a lock feature to keeps kids and pets from starting it and I like that for when I am not home. The tops come out easy and make dumping them simple. The mapping is cool, you can see where it has gone, you can rename it also. It is not super loud, it is a vacuum so there will be noise but nothing crazy. Super well made and I have floor runners going to my kitchen about a 1/2" tall and it went over it with no problem 5 stars!!!
