Yours Truly, Johnny Dollar (Old Time Radio) Audio CD – October 16, 2009

JOHNNY DOLLAR - a favorite of my Dad's when younger and recently found these INVALUABLE.My Dad had restless nights trying to sleep and listened to YOURS TRULY Johnny Dollar - Helped him pass the time while resting in bed.Voice acting clear - Digitally restored and remastered - quiet and static free. (w/o hearing aids he could hear it easier)- Compelling characters !- Intriguing stories !- Intuitively graspable plot lines ! A time capsule gem ! rather interesting to hear the price of cab fares and coffee.With my Dad's health decline all these stories were like familiar old friends.. readily comprehendible to reminisce and enjoy..The stories are seemingly intricate with lots of details, yet ultimately simple and easy to follow. Johnny Dollar has murder and intrigue, yet by todays standards the stories seem as benign as Disney. ( I couldn't help but overhear them, he played them so loud )PLEASE NOTE:1. My Dad found it annoying to try to sleep with the TV on (The light bothered him. Fortunately, radio can be enjoyed in the dark)2. My Dad also enjoyed Satellite radio bedside, However, Johnny Dollar CDs gave more control of what he listened to - he could pause, restart and change to choose which stories to listen..

I find a lot of the old time radio shows to be......well...... uninteresting. There, that was kind. ;) As always, to each their own.However, Bob Bailey ( one of several who portrayed this character..but the best) as Johnny Dollar is very entertaining. This hard nosed (insurance) detective..... Wait! you say? Insurance. Uh yeah, I know, but its okay... its fine. As an insurance detective he has a wider range of possibilities to investigate which is 95% engaging and unique. And have no fear, there is plenty of murders, threats and attempts on his life, scuffles and some gun play, along with the more expected insurance fraud.Of course what detective drama would be complete without "dames". And appealingly Johnny Dollar is no James Bond, not everyone in a skirt will raise it for him, quite the opposite, he is too real of a character for that. So, after you get past the first few odd references to "Johnny Dollar, the insurance investigator with a high priced expense account" lines you will find action, intrigue, sarcastic humor, twists and turns in story lines that are supported by good writing and excellent voice actors.

I love all the old programs. I seek out all the old black and white moves, TV shows, etc. I remember, as a child, listening to the radio programs. We did have a TV, but it was before you had 100's of stations,etc. Radio was still big.I discovered Johnny Dollar after getting a satellite radio and found the old time radio station. Johnny Dollar quickly became one of my favorites. When my grandchildren are in the car with me they love listening as well. One of them said it is like having the TV in your head, you just imagine what they are doing, and what they look like. WOW....Imagination...imagine that...LOLI found this DVD's on Amazon and was so happy. Now I can listen anytime I want. I am going to collect them all, as well as, some of the other programs.

I am listening to Johnny Dollar as I review this show. I love it! I was listening to Radio Classics with Greg Bell and fell in love all over again with the old shows especially detective shows and then came (RINNNGGGGG........Johnny Dollar....)I screamed!!!!!! Then I found out I could go to Radio Spirits and order the 10 cds, I got right on my computer and went to Amazon, within 3-5 days I was getting my cds thru the mail...... Oh!!! along with Dragnet Yeah!!!! Now lets see what other shows I can get.....

This will be a Christmas 2016 present for my husband. Now, I hope that he won't see this post and ruin the surprise! If there is a way to suppress certain purchases from this information wanted e-mail that is sent out on everything I ever order and receive, I wish I knew how to do it.

amazing stories to keep you satisfied on long trips..... The broadcasts are on XM radio though.... when not the JOHNNY DOLLAR day, rely on the CD... CDs are somewhat difficult to remove from case, so have ready before you drive....

I listen to these on the radio and just love the voice acting in these radio shows. I like the CD's because I can hear the completed storyline at my convenience because there are times when I cannot tune in to listen to the series. I would definitely recommend anyone who is a fan of this genre to purchase this product.

Really love the Johnny Dollar series. It is one of my favorite old time radio series. My favorite programs are the detective genre, and this is one of my favorites. Wish Amazon had more JD programs on CD. I previously had this collection on cassette tapes, but most of those have worn out. Glad to find it on
