PE Civil: Geotechnical Sample Questions and Solutions Paperback – November 1, 2010

Excellent book clear and very useful for the Pe exam. Very similar problems in the exam. I passed the exam!!!

After having taken the PE exam, I must say that this book was very representative of the type and difficulty level of questions on the exam. Yes, the exam was that easy. That being said, I wouldn't use this as your study guide, but rather your final gauge after you think you're done studying. If you do well on the sort of questions in this book, you will likely do well on the PE. FWIW, I took a Test Master's course after a couple months of studying water and geotech on my own. I scored a 92 (we get the scores in Texas). The test master's course has more similar example problems you can work. It is tough to find a good sampling of geotech practice questions for the PE exam since so few specialize in geotech and there apparently isn't a large a market to which study material can be sold.

Great review book. I have already taken the exam and I am preparing for my second round. I bought this book after my first go around and wish I would have got it sooner. Problems are very similar to the ones I saw on the actual test. They should be though since this book is produced by NCEES. In my opinion, this book is a necessity when preparing for the PE Exam.

I purchased this to study for the Principles of Engineering exam in civil engineering. It is expensive for what it is but the questions really helped me figure out my weak points and determine what areas to study in more. I did not use this as a sample, timed exam (as I perhaps should have). I believe it really helped me with the afternoon portion of the test, and I plan on re-selling used now that I've finished.

Perfect to use a couple days before the test. This is the best way to get a feel for the real test.

The problems are clearly laid out and seem to be similar to what you would find on the exam. The book is divided into two parts, representing the morning (breadth) and afternoon (depth) portions of the exam. There is a quick solutions table and a detailed explanation of the answers. Everything is well put together and the answers are sufficiently detailed to help you identify where you went wrong on problems you missed. The only thing I don't like about it is that it's so expensive for just a single practice exam.

I passed the PE exam on my first try using this book to help me study. This book is by far the most accurate example of what to expect on the PE exam! A lot of sample exams out there are far too difficult, causing you to waste time over-studying. Do yourself a favor and get this book so that you have a good idea of the problem format and difficulty.
