It's durable enough, but will eventually wear out. - They are all connected by interlocking teeth and you have to weave them together one by one - Eventually you will get close to a full shape (dodecahedron etc). However, at that point you have multiple sides to weave together and one side will eventually pop out. Try doing that for half an hour and it's a frustrating experience to say the least. I finally gave up and just sat the unconnected end as a base and pronounced it "done". It looked like a dog chewed it from all my futzing; my son was not impressed. I'm a grown man by the way. My 6 year old son gave up in 15 minutes. He got one side in and it fell apart on him. True, the instructions say 8 year+ but there is NO way an 8 year old will get far either. One last complaint, it "required" we have a toothpick for this exercise. I have zero toothpicks in the house so we went around trying to find something small to poke it with. Don't waste your time, it won't help either. It's for when a side pops out, you can push it back in. I remained unconvinced. Is there any upside? I think a very motivated teen+ could figure it out. You need the patience of a saint and a great interest in these type of "puzzles". For me, I think it was a bit of waste of time.
