AND PORCH LIGHTS OUT SIDE.. I AM EXTREMELY NEW TO SMART HOMES AND THIS WAS A GOOD CALL TO BUY....

Connects for a few hours then goes missing. I think this bulb is bad. The app is very ooor as well. The Alexa integration may work if the bulb would stay connected to my all ubiquiti network. AC-Pros.

Wow, I can't believe this happens. Yeelight is made by Xiaomi, one of big tech companies in China (next to Huawei). This product is great, the app is great; easy to use and good functionality. Price a bit higher than other Chinese manufacturers but justified based on the high quality product and controlling app. BUT! Turns out the controlling app is a way this Chinese company uses to harvest access to U.S. email addresses. It does not just try to collect basic info like email address or location. IT ACTUALLY GETS YOUR EMAIL USERNAME AND PASSWORD. To use the product you need to set up an account in their app. It sends you a verification code in email. The app shows you a button to "check email" and it shows (as I used a Gmail address) a screen that looks like a Google login screen and asks you to enter your username and password. THIS IS NOT A GOOGLE PAGE. It is inside the app. And, when I go to my Gmail app to look for the verification code there, none was sent. The app collects your email and password, meaning it can have access at any time to your whole email account. Wow... just wow! I still was eager to test the product so what I ended up doing was backing out of it and then setting up an account by using a phone number. It did send me a verification code as SMS and was able to set up the account and test the product, which worked great. But there were all sorts of paths during the process where they were nudging to provide more information. BE CAREFUL, USE AT YOUR OWN RISK!

As a home automation hobbyist, I both love and dislike this bulb. On one hand, the bulb works great when controlled my the mobile app. Sometimes the bulb drops off my network and I have to flick the light switch off then on again, but otherwise it works great. The bulb has the warmest warms, and the coldest colds. The bulb doesnt get as bright as I'd like it to, but he color settings are great for mood lighting. However, as someone who uses Home Assistant for my home automation, I find this bulb next to impossible to get working. When I had it working (developer mode on, LAN access on, YeeLight integration set up), it worked for a couple hours then kept showing as unavailable when the app could access it just fine. I was able to get it working with the HomeKit integration for a while, but after changing my HASS installation over to another device, it stopped working altogether. I would buy more of these wonderful bulbs if the compatibility with Home Assistant was addressed by Xiomi.

These bulbs are just fantastic. Zero issues with quality, setup or performance. They're plenty bright considering the 60w equivalency. LAN control and lack of a hub requirement makes them quite responsive - perfect for ambient lighting for movies or gaming. Mine are tied into Razer Synergy 3 and Alexa and perform as expected. You can use commands like "Alexa, turn lights on" and "Alexa, set lights to magenta at 75%" with ease. I'd recommend these over the (way overpriced) Philips Hue bulbs any day of the week (which was my original plan). I got my first Yeelight bulb (as a test) and liked it so much I immediately bought a second one and some cheap cylindrical desk lamps to place on opposite sides of my monitor. RGB bliss ensued. Unlike some Cree bulbs I have elsewhere, these produce zero heat and remain cool to the touch.

TL;DR: It's cheaper than most alternatives for RGB bulbs with a very robust set of functionality but has questionable reliability. After about a year, 2 out of 4 have issues. I jumped on the IoT train late 2018 (when I bought these bulbs) after hanging out with a colleague and experiencing his neat-o Philips Hue set up. Unfortunately the Hue ecosystem is not cheap and I wasn't willing to front the money so I bought some YEELIGHTs instead. Cheaper and no hub needed. Excellent. For those who are unaware, YEELIGHT is a sub-brand of Xiaomi (the popular phone maker known for making cheap yet decent quality products--at least hardware wise). Because of this, unsurprisingly, the build quality is great. Cost wise the bulb is cheap for what it is: this bulb has RGB, integration with Google Assistant and Alexa, LAN support (works with Home Assistant [Hass.io]), shines with 800 lumens. What else could you want from a smart bulb--aside from better brightness? The Philips HUE equivalent currently is about $46 at the time of writing this review and requires a HUB, this bulb is $26 at this point in time and works on WiFi. That's nearly half the cost--ignore the absurdity at the idea of dropping $50 on a light bulb. If you're on the fence on getting an RGB vs just a cool/warm traditional LED bulb, I recommend that you save your money and skip RGB. It was cool to play with colors during the first few months, then I never used the functionality again. The bulbs work with two apps YEELight and MI Home. Both apps have similar levels of functionality, however MI Home requires you to connect to servers in China (or Asia) to work--yikes. YEELight doesn't appear to have the same requirement (my account was registered on US servers). The only real benefit to using MI Home over YEELight is that if you have non-lighting devices from Xiaomi (such as a Robot Vacuum like myself), you can use one app alone to control your devices. You can use Google Assistant with a MI Home account or YEELight account to control your devices. MI Home--since the servers are in Asia, have noticeably more latency when making commands. The apps are also not perfect, you may experience hitches and when setting up your devices (i.e. not detecting the bulb, bulb not connecting to your WiFi network etc.) Firmware updates are particularly buggy and don't always detect when the update is complete. You can theoretically avoid Xiaomi's servers by configuring the bulbs to allow LAN Control, using your network devices to prevent the bulbs from connecting to the internet and control them purely using Home Assisstant. However if you want to still use voice commands, there a few more hurdles such as using IFTTT with Google Assistant (or Alexa) as the trigger and configuring a Webhook as the action. The action is an event you configure your Home Assistant to perform when called such as turning off a specific light, all the lights etc. However this method is time consuming because you have to manually configure the trigger phrases (word for word) and resulting actions (have to script action's using IFTTT's syntax). If you're wearing an imaginary tin-foil hat like me, it also doesn't help that IoT devices are innately insecure because they weren't designed with security in mind. This issue compounds with the concern that Xiaomi is owned by a Chinese company. Reliability wise, two out of my four bulbs experienced issues in about a year of ownership. The first bulb's blue channel stopped working so it had a warmer appearance for all colors displayed in contrast to the others. Commanding or setting the light to blue would be equivalent to turning the bulb off. The second bulb has intermittent issues, it will not turn on until unscrewing and rescrewing (or flipping the physical power switch on the lamp).

Great smartight. Had a different, cheaper, light before and this one has a bit more features. Deffenetly worth the upgrade. The details are what made the difference. For example when changing to one color to the other, it fades into the new color instead of instantly just changing. The app is also very handy being able to change the default mode Everytime you turn it on. And of course love how it's Alexa controlled. One last pretty good detail is the music mode, where the light will change cors depending on what either your phone is playing or what the microphone on your phone is hearing.

I think this light is worth the money, it has a variety of colours, can be scheduled, works with google home, and the brightness can be adjusted well. However, the shortcut icons from the app don't seem to work when the app isn't open, and the app closes automatically when not being used, so that feature is nearly useless, at least on android. Another caveat is that the colours decrease in variety as the brightness decreases, with orange becoming red, and blue becoming green. This product is mostly good, but probably isn't worth buying if you intend to use mostly dim lighting. Edit: I don't know why, but the dim colour range is excellent now, so I think this deserves 5 stars now.

I think this is the first review for the new 800 lumen V2 bulb. I felt obligated to write this review after how impressed I am with this bulb. Let me first say that Yeelight did NOT pay me to write this, and I paid full price for this product like any consumer. I was simply looking for a cheaper alternative to the Philips Hue. The bulb itself feels very solid a build quality it superb. It's bigger than a traditional bulb, but that's to be expected. I had no problems screwing this into my Ikea bedside lamp. Setup was VERY simple. It took two try’s, but this was likely me entering my wifi password incorrectly. Once this was up and running in just a few minutes, the App was extremely simple to figure out. I think there is still room for improvement in terms of the App but I’m very impressed The bulb is quick and responsive when changing colours, and there are some presets like a Candle Flicker or Romance which are pretty neat. The colours are very vibrant and accurate. I only have one bulb so far, so it’s hard for me to test out things like Scenes, but based on the testing so far, I imagine it would work without any issues. The text in the App is translated from either Mandarin or Cantonese, so there a couple things that aren't translated perfectly, but nothing that would stop me from doing what I want to do. I’d love to test the Lightstrip also. Yeelight, if you’re listening and want to send me a Lightstrip to test, I’d be happy to do it!

I can turn on away from home. Nice mood light. I'm happy!

Bought two at the same time, worked alright for a few months but now they change colours on their own. Double checked wifi connection and it's completely stable. Very annoying issue and is not a good sign for the brand's reliability.

It took a bit to figure out what software to download. I found yeelight in the android apps store, it worked perfect and connected within a few minutes. After that I just did a discovery with Alexa, everything works perfect. Colors are great and the price is right. I found the White to be much better then the Hue, about 10 percent brighter.
