Highly recommend ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Drop-in Replacement for Squier CV 50s Tele (CII) *by C***S on September 3, 2020* I have a Squier Classic Vibe 50s Telecaster that's a "Crafted in Indonesia" version--squier tele nerds will make the distinction between Indonesia-made ones and China-made ones. In any event, I have been playing a few jazz numbers (Julian Lage) and noticed that the stock tone pot wasn't all that useful. Turn it 90% and there's basically no change to the tone, but the the last 10% of the sweep has drastic change. It's a $400 guitar, so you can expect they will cut corners somewhere. I was going to buy the individual pots and parts to upgrade, but I noticed this 920D was pre-wired, came with a whole new plate, switch, and knobs, and wasn't that much more expensive than the kit from stewmac. It gets great reviews on here, but I was concerned that I'd have to modify my guitar to get it to fit (i.e. widen and/or deepen the cavity). That was not the case at all. The cavity in this tele fit it just fine and the screw holes lined up almost perfectly. Although my soldering was not a sight to behold, everything was secured to the proper place, and this thing sounds great. There's a ton more useful sweep on the tone knob and my tone just overall sounds better. Another perk of this kit is the input jack--this thing has the tightest grip I've ever seen on a jack. Apparently it's got 4 points of contact with the jack instead of the normal 2. Well, I can tell you that the difference is very noticeable. When you plug in, the plug goes part way in and then you have to give it a bit more elbow grease to get it the rest of the way in. The very audible "click" is satisfying and the jack is perfectly secured. I also replaced the jack cup with one of those electrosocket ones that has the screws. That was easier to install than I anticipated--there are a few videos on youtube that give some guidance on how to do that.In closing, if you've purchased a cheaper tele (like a CV tele) and looking to upgrade , give this a shot. Pots and control switches aren't really what most people think about when upgrading, but it makes a difference, especially if you play with the volume and tone knobs not always at 10. You do have to do some soldering, so keep that in mind. Some shops do make solderless ones (mojotone, for example), so you should consider those if soldering is out of the question. That being said, having some soldering skills is always good for a tinkerer to learn. I've made my own speaker wires, built an amp, etc. Thanks and good luck!One last note on soldering these in: the wiring diagram shows the trem ground wire going to the tone pot for grounding. Now, there are a total of three black ground wires that were in my tele and two of them came from where the bridge pickup is. Ergo, I could not tell which was the trem and which was from the bridge pickup. However, the various internet forums quickly informed me that it really didn't matter because the volume and tone pots on this set are connected (there's a cloth wire that directly connects the two). Thus, you can ground the wires on either. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Highly reccomend! *by J***A on April 10, 2020* First off, let me say the quality of craftsmanship on this piece is top notch. For what it costs prewired, I figured it’d be slapped together and shipped. It’s not. Every single solder join was perfect. The wiring was done by someone extremely OCD. The presentation was amazing.Secondly, it was fairly simply to install. But I’ve done loads of soldering in my life. So no problem for me. Which is why I have a three star for ease of installation. A novice may struggle a bit with it.Lastly but not least my only gripes on this unit was it having the input jack pre soldered to the control plate. Or the jack to the wires. I simply unsoldered the jack itself from the wires fed them and reapplied the solder. The control plate was about 1/16th of an inch to long for my tele. It was no issue at all getting it on with the pre existing holes in the body. That literally is my only complaints with this unit. 5 stars. It sounds amazing, top notch quality and craftsmanship.
